On the eastern Gulf of Thailand, around an hour and half drive from Bangkok, is Chon Buri: a thriving province that's lured backpackers and bohemians for centuries. It’s no wonder why – Chon Buri has a coastline peppered with natural enclaves of white sand beaches, which are lapped by crystal clear waters. But what is lesser known about the region, is that it’s where <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/222" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Concorde Yachts (Company)">Concorde Yachts</a> built and delivered its small dynasty. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/245559/image/large-bb6bd4290776c4bdda0695336d9d1617.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/245559"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/222" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Concorde Yachts (Company)">Concorde Yachts</a> was in operation throughout the 1990s and delivered four yachts; a batch of three sailing yachts between 1991-1994 and then a motor yacht in 1997. The site was commissioned for a project spearheaded by the founder of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/313" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nautor Swan (Company)">Nautor Swan</a>, Pekka Koskenkylä, who wanted to design and build three large sailing yachts. The first and third units, the 40-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2340" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Latitude40.0m (131'3&quot;)Concorde Yachts1991">Latitude</a> and the 41.5-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1102" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mirabella41.5m (136'2&quot;)Concorde Yachts1994">Mirabella</a> (ex. Mirabella III), were built for charter. The two yachts, delivered in 1991 and 1994 respectively, were commissioned by the late Joseph Vittoria, CEO of Hertz and then Avis, who was building a commercial sailing yacht fleet.&nbsp;The second unit from the series was the 41-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/243" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocean Pure 241.0m (134'6&quot;)Concorde Yachts1992">Ocean Pure 2</a> (ex. Philanderer), built for another client with very different intentions. “Her original owner was looking for a voluminous sailing yacht that would perfectly suit his personal blue water cruising aspirations,'' Maël Fiolet, Yacht Sales Advisor at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Camper & Nicholsons International (Company)">Camper &amp; Nicholsons</a>, explained. “And while <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/222" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Concorde Yachts (Company)">Concorde Yachts</a> was a small and new operation, it had the weight of some major players behind it. At the time of her construction, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/243" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocean Pure 241.0m (134'6&quot;)Concorde Yachts1992">Ocean Pure 2</a> was well ahead of her time.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/245564/image/large-e443ec14a880acef25e009d648acc972.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/245564">The three <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/222" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Concorde Yachts (Company)">Concorde</a> sailing yachts were designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/152" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Farr Yacht Design (Company)">Farr Yacht Design</a>, the US-based studio headed up by the revered New Zealand designer Bruce Kenneth Farr, who’s responsible for the design and naval architecture of countless regatta winners. Bruce Farr plied his racing experience into the schematics of these three cruising yachts, opting for hand-woven sandwich laminated fibreglass (GRP) to keep weight down and efficiency up. As Maël Fiolet retells, it wasn’t just Bruce Farr that added credence to these builds, “the entire team was incredibly competent, with talent – architects, suppliers, riggers and engineers – being pulled in from all over the world.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/232902/image/large-1043479201ecdd8679b3d848058a0ea9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/232902">The results speak for themselves and the triad of sailing yachts were well-loved from the moment they hit the water; Joseph Vittoria’s charter business was booming and was only growing in popularity as he continually grew his fleet, while <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/243" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocean Pure 241.0m (134'6&quot;)Concorde Yachts1992">Ocean Pure 2</a> was well-loved by her first owner, who enjoyed her privately and as a charter vessel.&nbsp;“We have travelled all over the Mediterranean, from the easternmost areas to the Balearic Islands,” her captain, Pietro Giordano, told SuperYacht Times. “We also enjoyed a season in the Caribbean, covering many miles as we tacked, jibed and motored from island to island. One of my personal favourite memories aboard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/243" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocean Pure 241.0m (134'6&quot;)Concorde Yachts1992">Ocean Pure 2</a> was when the owner decided to stop at Madeira on the way back from the Caribbean – the archipelago is pure paradise.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/245562/image/large-75e5156516457c0023eaa0598b87058b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/245562"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/243" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocean Pure 241.0m (134'6&quot;)Concorde Yachts1992">Ocean Pure 2</a> was built for a life with wind in her sails. &nbsp;As a result, it was imperative for her initial owner that she delivers outstanding comfort and class to fully enhance the sailing experience. She’s a superyacht of the first degree and offers 225 GT of volume spread over three levels. While her makeover brought her a new sensibility, she hasn’t swayed from the crux of that initial design brief; <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/243" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocean Pure 241.0m (134'6&quot;)Concorde Yachts1992">Ocean Pure 2</a> is a haven for socialisation and enjoying long periods out at sea. She can carry as many as 11 guests and six crew. Her accommodation comprises a master suite with a walk-in wardrobe, a VIP suite, two doubles and a guest suite with both a double and a single bed. She received a new engine and gearboxes, two new generators, shafts, and equipment upgrades. All lights, electrical system and plumbing were replaced, and her mast, rigging and sails were also inspected and upgraded. In addition, she benefitted from a full hull inspection, repaired keel and hull joint, copper coat antifouling, and new seacocks. The event previously known as <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4309" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palma Superyacht Show (Company)">Palma Superyacht Show</a>, will take place from 28th April to 1st May 2022 in the heart of Palma de Mallorca at Moll Vell Marina. Northrop &amp; Johnson has announced another sale this week, the 40-meter Concorde Yachts Mirabella I, the first of a series of superyachts from the same yard. Amongst other environmental upgrades, Mirabella III has been stocked with biodegradable golf balls that become fish food. All her decks, including a new swim deck and accommodations have been refitted. Today she offers unrivalled accommodation for up to 10 guests. In what may well be a first in yachting, CNI has this year sold all three sistership 40m (131’) sailing yachts built by Concorde Yachts. Built originally as a series for Joe Vittoria, the former Chairman of Avis, Mirabella I and III were operated by him as a charter business for more than 15 years.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/129510/image/large-d71bbe1a4cfa1131725590cbed53615e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/129510">When launched, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2340" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Mirabella I</a> was at the time the largest sloop in the world. What would have been Mirabella II was sold during her build to a private buyer and became <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/243" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Philanderer</a>. She was lately owned by a well-known Italian family. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1102" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Mirabella III</a> then joined her sister in the Vittoria charter fleet and much later in 2005 they were joined by a third yacht. This was the famous <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/301" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Mirabella V</a>, a 75m sailing yacht which still holds the crown of largest sloop in the world and which is still owned by the Vittoria family and available for sale through CNI.<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1102" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Mirabella III</a> sold first and is now owned by a British gentleman who plans to charter her in the CNI fleet once she has finished an extensive refit in Palma. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2340" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Mirabella I</a> went to another British gentleman who plans to use her privately with his family and possibly to attempt a circumnavigation. And this month, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/243" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Philanderer</a> has been sold to a Spanish Owner. CNI wish them all bon voyage on the next chapter in their sailing careers.October also saw the sale of the 23.7m (77’7) Sweptaway from Windship. The perfect blend of classic yachting style and high-tech performance, Sweptaway is one of the last yachts built by Windship. Showing well, she had two major refits, first in 2001 by the Camper &amp; Nicholsons Shipyard and then in 2005/2006 in Mallorca. Simon Goldsworthy and Gaston Lees Buckley announce two new listings joining the fleet: <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1863" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Melody Nelson II</a> is a 34m (111’5) Leopard. Built in 2006, she cruises at 32 knots. The 28m (92’) Melody Nelson is a fast Mangusta with accommodations for nine guests and a cruising speed of 31 knots. Both Melody Nelson’s are perfect for discovering the cruising grounds of the West Med.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/129514/image/large-2bb2d442ee8085ad06b541201d7432b4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/129514">Charles Ehrardt and Tim Langmead jointly list the 25m (82’) Blue Trinity Mangusta. Along with the above mentioned Trinity II, Walter Sea also lists the 23.5m (77’) Dorothea II from Hatteras Yachts. A sports-fishing yacht built in 2008, she cruises at 28 knots. Matthew Fisher lists the 20.6m (67’5) sailing yacht Tornado Blue from Nautor Swan. Launched in 1993, she boasts an exceptionally long list of extras and upgrades.
