The Italy-based builder <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/511" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tecnomar (Company)">Tecnomar</a> has unveiled the details of their latest forward-thinking concept: a 40.07-metre superyacht by the name of Tecnomar Cat133 FT, which features an interior and exterior design courtesy of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5565" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="The Italian Sea Group (Company)">The Italian Sea Group</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/306562/image/large-7112ff3e6f60785137d3b5338a6ceef8.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/306562">This design by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/511" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tecnomar (Company)">Tecnomar</a> draws inspiration from another one of the company’s creations, namely the 43.5-metre yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/10542" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="This Is It43.5m (142'9&quot;)Tecnomar2024">This Is It</a>, and manages to recreate a similar blueprint but for a smaller catamaran in the 499 GT volume class.&nbsp;As many as 10 guests can be accommodated onboard the yacht Tecnomar Cat133, which has been augmented to enhance the exterior spaces so that they are able to reach an impressively roomy 300-square-metres despite the yacht’s 40-metre length. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/306563/image/large-204e23932dbfba4be2be116e4345beda.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/306563">One of the most standout upgrades is the decision to elevate the Tecnomar Cat133’s stern by leveraging her two hulls, as well as including two internal wings and foldable side doors in order to construct an expansive swimming platform with the ability to extend to 16-metres if fully opened.&nbsp;Considering the futurism of the yacht’s sleek, athletic appearance, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/511" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tecnomar (Company)">Tecnomar</a>’s design also addresses the contemporary issue of sustainability in today’s yachting industry.With a dedication to green technology, Tecnomar Cat133 comes equipped with 70-square-metres worth of solar panels that will be subtly implemented across the swooping arches that cover the sun deck, complimenting the chic black lines that characterise the vessel’s exterior silhouette. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/306561/image/large-bcc4360c56749ddcd30195fc2df70342.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/306561">Moreover, Tecnomar Cat133 possesses a beam of 14.35-metres, and is composed of an Alloy hull, while her twin <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1441" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MAN (Company)">MAN</a> engines can reach a cruising speed of 15 knots along with a top speed of 17 knots.&nbsp;

This surge in revenue can be primarily attributed to new sales contracts and the advancement of existing orders.The total value of the order book, which encompasses the gross value of contracts for yachts pending delivery to clients (including both shipbuilding and refit segments), stood at €1,265 million as of December 31, 2023.&nbsp;Additionally, the net value of these existing contracts, after accounting for revenues already recognised in the income statement (net backlog), amounted to €609 million. This net backlog offers a clear view into the company's future revenue streams and operational pipeline, further solidifying its financial stability and growth trajectory.&nbsp;The preliminary EBITDA for the same period was reported at €61 million, marking a significant enhancement from the €47 million recorded at the end of 2022. The EBITDA margin also saw an improvement, rising to 16.8% from 15.9%.&nbsp;The company's financial performance as of December 31, 2023, revealed a Preliminary Net Financial Position of €2 million, shifting from a negative position of €11 million at the end of 2022. This improvement in financial status reflects several key financial activities throughout the year: a €14.4 million expenditure on dividend distributions, the aforementioned investments totaling €10 million, and the sale of an office building within the Viareggio shipyard, which resulted in a net cash inflow of €10.6 million.&nbsp;The Strategic Outlook for 2024-2025 anticipates considerable organic growth, leveraging the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5565" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="The Italian Sea Group (Company)">Group</a>'s robust infrastructure and the synergistic integration of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/51" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Perini Navi (Company)">Perini Navi</a> and its assets. This growth is further supported by strategic partnerships with luxury brands and a comprehensive sales network that spans globally. With an interior volume of under 499GT, Adventure features a distinctive glass segment in her bow, with a fully customisable aft deck area.The modern superyacht features a modern exterior design compared to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/570" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Admiral (Company)">Admiral</a>’s current 73.2-metre flagship explorer, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1596" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Planet Nine73.2m (240'2&quot;)Admiral2018">Planet Nine</a>, and boasts a panoramic pool and foldable wings on her aft deck to increase her living spaces onboard.With a total of six staterooms, Adventure features an owner’s suite on her upper deck, with three VIP suites on her main deck and two staterooms on her lower deck. The multihull yacht is described by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5565" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="The Italian Sea Group (Company)">TISG</a> as “visionary with the same futuristic design as This Is It.” The Tecnomar CAT133 features expansive external spaces exceeding 300 square-metres and will mirror This Is It, with light lines and sporty automotive details.&nbsp;The <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/511" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tecnomar (Company)">Tecnomar</a> CAT133 yacht is characterised by large glass surfaces, with various teak designs. She boasts a strong and sporty exterior design, with sinuous and captivating lines.&nbsp;The interiors of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/511" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tecnomar (Company)">Tecnomar</a> 155 yacht are characterised by two large lounges, two VIP staterooms and an owner’s suite on the full-beam main deck, with two guest staterooms on the lower deck.The exterior areas of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/511" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tecnomar (Company)">Tecnomar</a> 155 yacht include a spacious sun deck, equipped with a large bar and a sunbathing area with a swimming pool. It's amusing to reflect on my previous experience working on catamarans, like Necker Belle, back when they were not as mainstream. Did you initially start with interior design and then expand your expertise to include exterior design?In the early stages of my career I was primarily focused on interior design and my expansion into exterior design happened somewhat by chance. In 1999, I was skilled at creating virtual renderings. It was during this time that <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5678" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Luciano Di Pilla Design (Company)">Di Pilla</a> expressed the need for someone to develop renderings that represent his ideas. As our collaboration evolved, he noticed that I had an eye for colours and materials, and suggested I venture into interior design on my own. Driven by my interest, I started creating interior renderings independently. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5678" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Luciano Di Pilla Design (Company)">Di Pilla</a> then started to encourage me to expand in exterior design renderings, even though he himself was not involved in that aspect. Our journey began with refits on smaller yachts, including a 25-metre sailing yacht. The outcome of this inaugural project can make or break a career. A successful launch, indicating the creation of a high-quality product, paves the way for career progression. A less favourable outcome can pose significant challenges.In the case of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4663" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="VYD Studio (Company)">VYD Studio</a>, we have substantially developed and grown since 2017, following our successful first launch, which subsequently has led to our involvement in a total of 12 projects.&nbsp;Could you please share the origins of your collaboration with&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/752" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mengi Yay Yachts (Company)">Mengi Yay</a>&nbsp;and any upcoming projects you have in partnership with them?&nbsp;Our collaboration with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/752" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mengi Yay Yachts (Company)">Mengi Yay</a> was facilitated by a mutual acquaintance, Lorenzo Cappugi. The collaborative synergy between <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4663" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="VYD Studio (Company)">VYD</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/752" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mengi Yay Yachts (Company)">Mengi Yay</a> has consistently delivered successful superyacht projects, with the VIRTUS line being a notable example. Two 53-metre units are currently under construction, with scheduled delivery in 2025.To transform the design of the luxury explorer XP series into reality, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4663" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="VYD Studio (Company)">VYD</a> starts from the inside, perfecting and optimising the general arrangement (GA) to ensure a balanced and enjoyable yacht. Once the interior spaces are interconnected and well-conceptualised, we extend our design process to the exterior, creating a shell that not only contains but also enhances the interior innovations. The result is a vessel that combines the sturdiness and safety of an explorer yacht with the modernity and style of the Virtus Line, offering a "Luxury Explorer" experience.&nbsp;Key design features of this under 500 GT project include an owner's cabin on the upper deck with access to a private open deck with a pool, a permanent helideck, a spacious beach club with a pool directly connected to the sea through unfolding sea terraces, guest cabins on the main deck for optimised crew space on the lower deck, exterior areas that can be either open or enclosed through windshield glass and a substantial elevator connecting all decks.My most recent design with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/752" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mengi Yay Yachts (Company)">Mengi Yay</a>, involves the construction of the 34.5-metre explorer yacht named Atlante Classic, with a scheduled delivery in 2025.Could you provide insights into recent emerging trends within the yacht industry?In the 1990s, many yacht owners had a limited understanding of the technical nuances, such as the differences between composite, steel, and aluminium as well as distinctions between displacement and semi-displacement hulls. However, the landscape has evolved significantly. Today, yacht owners tend to be more knowledgeable and proactive in their enquiries, thanks to factors like globalisation and easy access to information. Moreover, seasoned owners with four, five, or six vessels under their belts, now have a clearer vision of what they seek in the market. As a designer, my role now often extends beyond aesthetics. I frequently find myself engaged in discussions covering a range of topics, from generator engines and stabilisers to hull forms. While my primary focus is on design, I also delve into engineering discussions to address the intricate demands of modern yacht owners.The shift in preferences has been notable with speed no longer the exclusive focus. Instead, there is a growing emphasis on comfort, insulation, reduced noise, and the efficient utilisation of interior space.If you could purchase your own yacht or advise a client, is there one design feature you feel has the most impact on a luxurious experience onboard?<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293785/image/large-e7f435a76ce10f5c1257686c9863647d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293785">The ideal onboard experience lies in the versatility of spaces. Specifically, areas like the sky lounge and saloon should be designed with a sense of adaptability. For instance, these spaces should be convertible so that, in the spring, you can enclose and control the internal climate, while in the summer, they can be fully open to the elements. This means that you can choose to keep them open during the day and, if needed, close them at night. The idea is to create flexibility in these spaces, avoiding rigidity.&nbsp;Moreover, I also appreciate the concept of neutral fixed furniture, walls, ceilings, and floors. This neutrality allows for the ease of updating and modernising the interior over the years by making changes to specific elements. The superyacht’s design is far from a stereotypical yacht design and instead closer to civilian architecture. The owner’s stateroom also features a panoramic terrace and a vertical garden which stretches across two decks, reminiscent of a beach house.
