She was launched as the coastal passenger ship Vladimir Nazor, named after the well-known Croatian author, in 1952 at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/880" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Uljanik Shipyard (Company)">Uljanik Shipyard</a> in Croatia. In its first 50 years, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1300" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Seagull II54.16m (177'8&quot;)Uljanik Shipyard1952">Seagull II</a> connected the cities of Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Kotor and Split and was able to carry up to 700 passengers. In its first 50 years, the 54-metre vessel connected the cities of Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Kotor and Split and was able to carry up to 700 passengers at a time. She was acquired by her current owner in 2004 who painstakingly refurbished the vessel and converted her into the luxury yacht we see today. A new Art Nouveau interior captures the style of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1300" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Seagull II54.16m (177'8&quot;)Uljanik Shipyard1952">Seagull II's</a> original launch period of the 50s. Spotted in her home base of Malta is the 54-metre classic yacht Seagull II from 1952 which once operated as a Croatian passenger vessel.

The Croatian design firm 2Pixel Studio has sent us more details on their latest conversion project, Vis. Superyacht Vis, once owned by Marshal Tito, was built by the Uljanik shipyard in 1956 as the Headquarter Command Ship of Yugoslav Navy forces. Vis served almost 50 years as a navy command ship, until the current owner bought it directly from the army in 2002. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/134172/image/large-c38f8126a2bce0b5874a45e12c971fbb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/134172">When she was owned by Tito high profile guests were regularly on board the yacht. The members of the British Royal Family resided twice on the ship, Richard Burton and Sofia Loren were also among the guests invited by Tito. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/134173/image/large-273ab0d0af12b69e5dcf77a1e05f9426.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/134173">Vis measures 58 metres in length, has a beam of 8.9 metres with a total displacement of 670t and 3m draught. She was built to the highest specifications of her time; iron hull and aluminium superstructure, three auxiliary engines with generators as sources of electrical energy. This boat was run by two slow-motion, now worn out, diesel engines of 1,000hp each. Originally the boat interior was equipped with two saloons and 32 cabins with 52 berths, and all the decks were coated with 6cm of well-preserved high quality teak wood. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/134174/image/large-bf480542dc7190ef8a1cd4232c72f5c6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/134174">Optimal reconstruction of the boat implies conversion into luxury yacht, floating mini hotel or charter boat to SOLAS regulations. Seagull II was built by the Uljanik Shipyard in 1952 as a passenger vessel. In 2004 she arrived at the Trogir shipyard where she was converted into a yacht over the next two years. The redesign and project management was done by the Croatian based architects Water Line Consulting.
