Racing in Porto Cervo got off to a strong start today as the fleet of Perini Navi superyachts were greeted with good breeze over a custom course set out by the race committee for both the Cruiser Racer and Corinthian Spirit classes, the latter which set off on a slightly shorter course in order to compress the fleet near the finish line.
The 88-metre Maltese Falcon performed well throughout the race and was closely followed across the finish line by the all-white Spirit of the C’s in the Corinthian Spirit Class. In the Cruiser Racer class, the 60-meter Seahawk showed what she was made of, leading the field throughout the day. Day one results and preliminary standings are due in later this afternoon. Two more days of racing remain and with typical Sardinian racing weather predicted, the fleet sure is in for a testing time come Friday and Saturday.Photo: trac trac
