Completed in 2012, the once all‑white <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> was repainted in 2018 to echo her cruising companion <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6297" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sherpa73.6m (241'6&quot;)Feadship2018">Sherpa</a>. The owner previously owned a smaller <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> of the same name, which now cruises as <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/280" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ambition56.5m (185'4&quot;)Feadship2001">Ambition</a>. Showcasing <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/61" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RWD (Company)">RWD</a>’s design inside and out, the 685 GT yacht accommodates up to 12 guests in six staterooms, served by a crew of 15. Among her most playful features is a foredeck helipad that transforms into a netted sports court for basketball, tennis, baseball, badminton, or football, complete with a giant safety net. Meanwhile, a 25-metre-high crow’s nest, accessed via a two-person elevator, offers panoramic views and a zip-wire ride straight into the sea. Amenities feature a wine cellar with underwater viewing window, cinema, English-style skylounge bar, sauna and steam room, and a panoramic gym. Additionally, could you provide some insights into your background and journey?I have sailed my entire life, starting around the age of two in Bembridge on the Isle of Wight, then sailing alongside my brother on various sailboats, including Hobie Cats, 420s and Lasers.I was initially destined for a career in the British Army having been awarded a top scholarship in my intake to Sandhurst. Unfortunately, my rugby career was also running parallel to this and I had to have eight knee operations which resulted in a medical discharge from military service. The obvious next move was to go into banking, something my family has been involved with since the 1650s. That said it was 2010 and the recession was still hitting the banking sector hard, and it look thoroughly unappealing! &nbsp;Through a rather tenuous link a potential job opening was presented to me at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/124" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Edmiston (Company)">Edmiston</a>. With my childhood love of sailing, I thought that the yachting industry could be an interesting path so I applied and underwent a rigorous interview process, competing with 63 or so other applicants for a single position. I ended up being selected as Chris Cecil-Wright’s junior, starting out in the listings department. Shortly after accepting the role, I relocated to Monaco and that marked the beginning of my career at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/124" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Edmiston (Company)">Edmiston</a>.&nbsp;Eventually, Chris and I decided to leave and establish <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright (Company)">Cecil Wright &amp; Partners</a>, officially opening the business on 4th June 2013. The idea of working within a smaller, tightly knit team had always appealed to me. Having Chris, one of the prolific yacht brokers in the world, as my mentor was instrumental in my development, I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had that opportunity.Interestingly, if you had asked me during my university days what I envisioned for my post-army career, becoming a yacht broker would never have crossed my mind. The yachting industry seemed like a distant and exclusive world that I never considered.Yacht brokers typically come from backgrounds which are already in some way affiliated with yachting; sons of other brokers, captains who go land based and, on occasion, transitions from associated fields such as yachting journalism. Bringing a fresh perspective and new insight to the industry has been quite intriguing. It is worth highlighting that banking and finance, my familial background, is known for its forward-thinking approach and use of innovative technologies, which stood in stark contrast to the antiquated practices I found in the yachting sector.Reflecting on the impact we have made on the industry, particularly in terms of innovations like 3D scanning, we introduced this technology back in 2015, I would like to think that we have brought the industry a pace or two forward. Surprisingly, many have not adopted it, which I find fairly astonishing. We have successfully sold several yachts without the need for potential buyers to physically visit them. For instance, I facilitated the sales of the 62-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/186" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Prediction62.0m (203'5&quot;)Feadship2005">Prediction</a> (previously called New Hampshire) during Covid, the 56.50-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/280" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ambition56.5m (185'4&quot;)Feadship2001">Ambition</a> (previously called Hampshire I) and the 22.34-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/166" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Wally (Company)">Wally</a> motor yacht Jabberwocky, the latter to a gentleman in California who had never set foot in Europe. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/88486/image/large-59f1f461708afcb79da38f374df77461.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/88486">Could you delve deeper into the client approach and business ethos at the firm?At <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright (Company)">Cecil Wright &amp; Partners</a>, we maintain the principle of 'fewer clients serviced better' as a core aspect of our brokerage philosophy. This approach has played a crucial role in shaping our interactions with clients and building enduring relationships in the industry. When Chris and I founded our company, we deeply analysed the market to determine which segments of the industry offered the most potential for success. We focused on identifying what sells quickly, retains value, and the type of clientele associated with very large pedigree vessels. Our findings pointed out that the large pedigree vessel segment is not only secure and more liquid but the people who owned them were less susceptible to market fluctuations.&nbsp;Our goal is not to sell a multitude of yachts to a vast number of clients but to ensure that we offer the right yacht to the right client from the outset. This requires us to prioritise our clients' interests over short-term gains. We do not engage in practices that might encourage clients to overpay or provide them with inaccurate information about a yacht's value. In the world of yacht brokerage, it is an interesting paradox, doing better for our clients often means making less on a deal.We firmly believe that the long-term benefits of fostering trust and credibility with our clients far outweigh any short-term financial gains. Our business thrives on referrals and networks, and we understand that by consistently acting in the best interests of our clients, they are more likely to introduce us to their peers.One distinctive aspect of our approach is our collaborative nature. Unlike many other companies where a single broker is exclusively responsible for a client and their yacht, we encourage internal collaboration within the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright (Company)">CWP</a> team. We leverage the expertise of various team members to provide the best possible service. For example, in the sale of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4095" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Whisper95.2m (312'4&quot;)Lürssen Yachts2014">Whisper</a>, there were three of us working on it: myself, Chris, and Henry Goulding. And we're not ashamed or abashed by that. And I think the quite interesting thing is whilst we are a boutique company, as a client you get more broker attention than you do at larger outfits. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/275534/image/large-79daee2d3ed2fd80e22941eff4eb2868.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/275534">Why does&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright (Company)">Cecil Wright &amp; Partners</a>&nbsp;tend to choose yachts with a northern European pedigree as their brokerage's focus? What specific qualities or attributes of these yachts appeal to you and your clients? Choosing yachts with a Northern European pedigree as our brokerage's focus has been a strategic decision driven by several key factors. What you tend to find is that, by and large, the consistency of quality produced by these Northern European yards is more reliable. However, it's essential to note that, like any business, some yards may cut corners to maximise profits especially if not overseen by an independent build manager.&nbsp;They tend to retain their value better over time because they are generally built to a higher standard. When it comes to warranty work, these yachts typically require very minimal repairs, and most issues can be addressed in the field.For instance, if a yacht, such as a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>, undergoes maintenance at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/97" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MB92 Barcelona (Company)">MB92</a> in Barcelona, you'll notice that the need for extensive repairs is rare. Comparatively, some other brands have been known to experience delays and extensive post-delivery work. This raises concerns about getting what you are paying for.Our sales data reflects this, with an average of just four months on the market for yachts in our portfolio, and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadships</a> often selling within three months of listing. These numbers speak to the quality and market appeal of these vessels. When it comes to trends in the yachting industry, it's important to understand that changes often unfold gradually. One noteworthy trend we're currently witnessing is the rising interest in explorer yachts. This trend encompasses both chartering and ownership, with many clients seeking out more adventurous destinations.Furthermore, regulatory factors are exerting a significant influence. For instance, in the South of France and Corsica, issues like seagrass and the associated anchoring restrictions are driving people to explore different locations. Spain, on the other hand, presents an interesting scenario due to its stringent VAT policies. Chartering in Spain now entails a 45% VAT for non-EU flagged vessels. However, there are creative ways to navigate these challenges. With the growing awareness of environmental sustainability, how does <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright (Company)">Cecil Wright and Partners</a> navigate this shift, and what unique advantages do sailing yachts offer in terms of eco-friendliness?In the context of environmental sustainability, the perception that sailing yachts are more environmentally friendly than motor yachts while underway is true, but when a sailing yacht is at anchor and using a generator, the environmental advantage diminishes. Additionally, it is a complex issue because, in terms of construction, the environmental impact of sailing yachts and motor yachts of the same tonnage is not significantly different either.&nbsp;We acknowledge the importance of green credentials. Carbon offsetting is a concept we support and promote. Personally, I believe it should be a standard practice in the industry, especially concerning charters.Carbon offsetting can be introduced as an opt-out option rather than opt-in. When presented with an opt-in option, most people tend not to choose it, whereas with an opt-out option, fewer opt-out. For instance, if you include a special condition in a charter contract, stating that carbon offsetting is applied, with the option to opt-out, you would be surprised how many clients choose to offset. The cost of offsetting a charter is relatively small, considering the overall value of the charter.Finally, personally, if you could invest in a yacht, what would you choose and why?I am a sailor at heart, so I would go for a sailing yacht. The optimal yacht I have been on in terms of design and performance is the 57.50-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Huisman (Company)">Royal Huisman</a> <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/796" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Twizzle57.5m (188'8&quot;)Royal Huisman2010">Twizzle</a>. The world’s markets have been dramatically affected by the pressures posed by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic – and yachting is no exception. We catch up with brokers from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/159" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Burgess (Company)">Burgess</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/526" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Northrop and Johnson (Company)">Northrop &amp; Johnson</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/158" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fraser (Company)">Fraser</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yachting (Company)">Denison</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil Wright &amp; Partners</a> to see how the yacht sales market has adapted to different technologies to help clients through these exceptional times. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/85801/image/large-e9960a316f44d4ed66574d1f530f80d6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/85801">A seller’s marketWhen the World Health Organisation officially declared Covid-19 a pandemic on 11 March 2020, it triggered an onslaught of constantly-changing regulations that have affected all aspects of yachting, including brokerage.Analysts were quick to anticipate a seller’s market – a condition characterised by a shortage of goods available for sale. While it is still too soon to tell if this is the case, with travel banned, refits delayed, sales postponed and charterers’ trips cancelled indefinitely, the day-to-day business for a sales broker has been reconditioned to fit new uncertainties. Managing Director of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yachting (Company)">Denison Yacht Sales</a>, Bob Denison commented, “I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, it’s the first time it really feels like a seller’s market might be emerging.”&nbsp;Notably too, for Josh Gulbranson, Sales Broker at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/158" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fraser (Company)">Fraser</a>, the current situation has encouraged more long-term thinking from clients – a positive when it comes to sales: “While the pandemic has certainly restricted clients’ ability to come and visit boats first-hand, many people are interested in buying, and the sense of urgency has increased. More clients are seeing that a yacht can be a safe haven, and those that have primarily been charterers are now thinking about being owners.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/60234/image/large-d3fdf1f8d7a4012d82878d5b00749850.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/60234">Virtual showings&nbsp;As more countries fell under strict quarantine regulations from March, the use of technology became integral for closing deals. The lack of in-person yacht visits was compensated through the use of detailed walkthrough videos and virtual tours. For brokerage companies, this shift entailed building digital repositories of yachts. While video tours and use of 3D photography technologies became ubiquitous, in some cases, virtual tours involving a Zoom call and live commentary of the yacht's specifications were also carried out. This also allowed industry peers and prospective clients to ask questions at any point during the tour as they would in person.For <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil Wright &amp; Partners</a>, having the Matterport system (a three-dimensional camera system used for creating immersive and realistic experiences) in use since 2016 meant that the company already had 3D scans of its fleet ready for marketing. Henry Smith, Sales Broker at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil Wright &amp; Partners</a>, commented: “Throughout lockdown, we hosted virtual tours of our central agency yachts. The captains were able to talk over the presentation as I ‘walked’ through the yachts on the normal route I would take if I were actually on board.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/81639/image/large-098bdd10f3c1fd030f7d764b3946560d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/81639">Since introducing this technology, the brokers have managed to sell four yachts [at time of writing]. “In 2019, the buyer of the 56.5-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/280" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ambition56.5m (185'4&quot;)Feadship2001">Ambition</a>&nbsp;was so confident in the technology that he only physically saw her for the first time once he had bought her, and she had crossed the Atlantic!” Smith recalls.&nbsp;Bob Denison, Managing Director of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yachting (Company)">Denison</a>, describes a similar experience: &nbsp;“<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yachting (Company)">Denison</a> was really lucky to have a head start on some of our competitors. We already had a library of a few hundred video tours and virtual tours in place, since digital marketing has been a core part of our business model since the early 2000s.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/61320/image/large-88d0218ef398d8a62b29738788ddb9cf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/61320">A new market going forward?Technologies that allow digital walkthroughs such as the 3D imaging system, virtual tours or even Zoom presentations add to the experience of buying a yacht and make the preliminary processes smoother. Whether someone can visit a vessel in person or not, being able to offer the chance to ‘visit’ again online is an undeniable benefit.In spite of recent relaxations in travel regulations, the continued use of the latest imaging technologies for marketing seems to be in the pipeline for all brokers we consulted. “As travel restrictions ease, it is easier to get people onto yachts for viewings. She can sleep up to 12 guests across six cabins consisting of a master cabin, two double cabins, two twin cabins and a single cabin. Her guests can be taken care of by a crew of up to 15. The yacht was spotted in Tampa, Florida where locals Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansa City Chiefs last night to win the National Football League championship in Super Bowl 55.

As the show season gets underway, Chris and his team are hoping to continue their trend of selling a boat at every Monaco Yacht Show. With three berths booked in preparation, along with his positive attitude and wealth of knowledge, he may well get lucky. Do you have any particular tactics when it comes to dealing with clients?The way I do business is that I meet the client and I take the time to build a relationship with them as that is the driver for good business. When you have a good bond with someone you can have frank discussions and, most importantly, you get to know their idea of value, size and quality. That’s my tactic: to know my clients well! It is also why I don’t have very many clients as I like to keep them to a minimum and look after them properly. How do you think&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil Wright</a>&nbsp;stands out?I don’t think we do stand out, I just think we do what we do well! There’s a whole big market out there with thousands of boats to choose from so you can’t know everything. The way I add value to a relationship is knowing the history of the boats, which is why I focus on <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadships</a> because I like the product and about their boats. When I deliver this information to a new owner it is good value to them. <img src="https://sya.superyachttimes.com/uploads/store/photo/55860/image/large-989e1df86770e8c8e5284175607495fa.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/55860">What would your best advice be to a new owner wanting to get into the industry?Personally, if I was a new owner coming into the industry I would try to find the support of someone who spoke my language and understood who I was. Someone who bothered to make a relationship with me and didn’t just send me a list of big white boats and ask me to choose. I would be having coffee at various brokerage companies and look the broker in the eye and ask myself: “Do I like this person? Because I am going to be spending the next year or two with them!”&nbsp; Refit is often the best option for first-time buyers as it is likely that they have already chartered and explored the second-hand <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/for-sale" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">yacht market</a>. There’s no point in building your own boat until you’ve spent some time on one because you won’t know what you really want. That said, however, I have sold quite a few 80m+ new-builds to first-time buyers. I think the 60-metre market is very adaptable to suit any taste: For example, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/280" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ambition56.5m (185'4&quot;)Feadship2001">Hampshire I</a> (renamed Ambition) had dark blue carpets, dark wood and gold accents, but now she is looking very contemporary. A nostalgic boat doesn’t necessarily mean a lack of modern amenities onboard! There is definitely part of the market that like this style, but that’s what I love about our industry so much: every owner is different with different ideas and wants something different out of yachting. It’s a passion!<img src="/uploads/store/photo/88485/image/large-8c98f2142739cfc249b9dabb2f0a6626.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/88485">The refit work on&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/186" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="New Hampshire62.0m (203'5&quot;)Feadship2005">New Hampshire</a>&nbsp;came to around €8,000,000 over the course of 18 months, what is your opinion on the current refit market?The refit market is a big question because boats are always being refitted and the scope is so huge. I think brokers are able to add value to a transaction by knowing the history of the boat leading up to its acquisition and can guide an owner through what needs to be done on the boat to make it how they want it with sensible expenditure. Some people are just after the biggest boat for the best price so they don’t mind if it is a bit rough and ready; other people want absolute precision, perfection. But boats are never perfect - even when they come out of the shipyard: <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/186" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="New Hampshire62.0m (203'5&quot;)Feadship2005">New Hampshire</a> is a classic example.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/81643/image/large-b0958ec8ab66f7e993bc0154f631e53e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/81643">You are very open about your passion for&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>. What is it about&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>&nbsp;you like so much?I have worked on so many boats there now and have built strong relationships. If you went to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> to buy a boat it would be different than if you came to me and we both went to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> needs to make a profit, whereas my job is to get the best possible deal, contract, terms, price and specification that I possibly can. For me, the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> DNA has always been in the ultimate finish and in the quality that is put into the details. Just as one example, you have the teak on a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>: if you run your toe over the deck there is a very small camber around the edge so water doesn't collect - no other boat has that! There are just a million things like that on a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> that just make them special.&nbsp; Having been in the industry for nearly 25 years, have you seen a shift in the clientele?&nbsp;In the last year, no. But in the last 10 or 20 years, I have noticed an increase in female owners! Also, America took a bit of a back seat when the Russians were in town but that market is back in force now. Unsurprisingly, Asia is becoming more prominent. I couldn't comment on anybody's style or taste because when you think what sort of money these people have, they are so unique on this planet. It’s an extraordinary business!&nbsp; What if you don’t agree with your clients’ ideas?These days I don’t disagree. In the old days, I used to sell whatever anybody wanted, now I find my reputation is more important than just doing any deal. I can and have said I am happy to point people in the right direction but I won’t be involved - I have the experience to know that it will come back to bite you and one disgruntled client is not worth it!<img src="https://sya.superyachttimes.com/uploads/store/photo/81642/image/large-072d1bd4b0e03fdabe26b6a3abe0781d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/81642">What are your expectations or predictions for the future, both in the industry and for&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil Wright &amp; Partners</a>?I predict we will find a buyer, a new buyer, for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/186" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="New Hampshire62.0m (203'5&quot;)Feadship2005">New Hampshire</a> or <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/280" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ambition56.5m (185'4&quot;)Feadship2001">Hampshire I</a>. I really want to find a buyer in-house to keep them in my fleet and release them out to the charter market which is somewhere they haven’t been for a long time. They’re both immaculate, ready to go and we’ve had a lot of interest from realistic sellers. I sold a 66-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> to the owner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/280" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ambition56.5m (185'4&quot;)Feadship2001">Hampshire I</a>, and the owner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/186" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="New Hampshire62.0m (203'5&quot;)Feadship2005">New Hampshire</a> bought an <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/44" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Abeking & Rasmussen (Company)">Abeking</a> 81-metre, so they have both got their new boats already!&nbsp;I’d like to see the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil-Wright</a> charter department grow, especially as we will add the recently sold <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2616" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Arience60.0m (196'10&quot;)Abeking & Rasmussen2012">Arience</a> to the charter market very soon. I see a lot of charter businesses just going through the motions and I think we can provide more of a personal service.&nbsp;<img src="https://sya.superyachttimes.com/uploads/store/photo/75429/image/large-07a1a22511861764b32d7988360c680a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/75429"> Do you have a particular career highlight, and a challenge?I enjoyed doing <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2074" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Madame Gu99.0m (324'10&quot;)Feadship2013">Madame Gu</a> as I introduced the designer, put the build contract together, went all the way through the build and delivered it. It was fun! We are still very good friends with the captain and the team. I delivered <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6297" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sherpa73.6m (241'6&quot;)Feadship2018">Sherpa</a>&nbsp;which was a big highlight and an extraordinary process. Despite the industry not having changed much in the last 25 years, every day is still a challenge! The reasons people have boats are the same, but there are a lot more shipyards and brokers even though what we are all trying to do is the same. The volume of the industry has gotten bigger, which means there are more careers for people. &nbsp;What would be your money-no-object project?That’s like saying what’s your favourite pair of shoes! Your favourite shoes may not be practical for playing tennis or going to the farm. So if I wanted to go to St Tropez, the last thing I’d want is a 110-metre motor yacht, but if I want to explore Antarctica, I wouldn’t have a 35-metre 100-year-old classic sailing yacht. There are 100 boats I would love to own and I have around 10 boats as it is! They all have different jobs: I have a 12ft Scow that I race on a Monday with my daughter, a J80 I race on Thursday with four other lads, a Nicholson 55 sailing yacht I take to holiday with my family, a 16ft Pram that I picnic on with my family along the coast and an 8.5-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1914" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Scorpion RIBs (Company)">Scorpion Rib</a> I take on the Solent as a means of transport. My perfect boat in the Med right now is probably a 45-metre classic restored <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> - something like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/267" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Heavenly Daze32.22m (105'9&quot;)Feadship1972">Heavenly Daze</a> - lovely! I think one day I will buy it! Seen here last week as she heads through the Thames Barrier in east London is the 56.5-metre motor yacht Hampshire. The yacht was built by Feadship in 2001 and launched as Barbara Jean. She was later renamed Hampshire under the ownership of a current repeat Feadship client who owns the 78.5-metre Hampshire II. Hampshire’s original interior is the work of designer John Munford which was later redesigned by RWD. The yacht’s exterior was drawn by De Voogt Naval Architects in Holland.

Superyachts Excellence V and Hampshire off Fort Lauderdale

Built by Abeking &amp; Rasmussen in 2012, the 60 metre Excellence V is the second yacht constructed by the German shipyard for this owner. One of the owner's special requirements was to have the yacht fit into the marina of Gustavia on the island of St Barths, one of the owner's favourite ports. Despite this restriction, Excellence V boasts a volume of 1,632 GT – unheard of for a yacht of her length. The yacht features a beautiful Reymond Langton interior, which you can view in <a href="http://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/superyacht-of-the-week-the-60-metre-abeking-rasmussen-excellence-v/" target="_blank">this</a> on board feature.

In the background we see the 56.50 metre Hampshire which was launched at Feadship as Barbara Jean in 2001. After acquiring the yacht in 2006, the same owners then went on to build the 78.50 metre Hampshire II, delivered in 2012.

Launched in April 2012, Hampshire II was built by Feadship, and features an interior and exterior design by the Hampshire-based design studio RWD. Her classic interior by Redman Whitely Dixon, with interior design by Nadine Bartholomew has been described as "the feel of a traditional boat without looking like a hotel or New York apartment". She also features a crow’s nest for panoramic views, a beach club designed to facilitate the owner’s passion for windsurfing and sailing, and a helicopter deck which converts to a netted playing field for basketball, tennis, baseball, badminton…. She was docked in the Port of Nice. A few days later I saw her passing far off the coast heading to Saint Tropez.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/122969/image/large-0ddcd7ff51d69ea4e11a9fa97f991941.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/122969">The 62m Codecasa Apogee arriving in Monaco. Before she was heading to Monaco she was anchored off St Jean Cap Ferrat. Apogee is owned by a Texas businessman and a popular charter yacht. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/122970/image/large-b5ec319f8b25e20b2d09b3671e260884.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/122970">Shortly after Apogee came in Monaco she was followed by the new Abeking <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/59" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Lady Sheridan</a>. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/59" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Lady Sheridan</a> was anchored off Beaulieu-sur-Mer next to her sister <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/966" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Zenobia</a>. Her she is pictured whilst leaving Port Hercule of Monaco. The interior of this private yacht was designed by Larvor.
