On board, she accommodates up to 11 guests over a five cabin layout - including a full beam main deck owner’s suite - as well as a crew of nine. Brokerage deal of the week: the 45m superyacht Atomic

Featuring exterior design by the Italian design studio Studio Scanu and naval architecture done in house in collaboration with Karatas Yacht Design, Atomic is a three-deck, full displacement, transatlantic motor yacht, built to operate for private use or charter in all seas and oceans of the world. The interiors are the work of the French design studio Franck Darnet Design. Her owner’s passion for diving is evident in the functional setup on beach deck, created with evey diving requirement in mind. She is currently spending time in Cancun, Mexico.

Turkish shipbuilders Sunrise Yachts are the latest brand to confirm their presence at the upcoming London Yacht, Jet and Prestige Car Show which will begin next week. Sunrise Yachts most recent event participation was at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, where their latest launch, the 45 metre Atomic, was presented to the industry.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153207/image/large-52a04b9f14dfbc6f81fcce13224fb0dd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152304">Vessels for sale with Sunrise Yachts include a 68 metre project designed by A. Vallicelli &amp; Co. Currently under construction in Antalya, she is scheduled for delivery in summer 2017. The company will also be delivering a 63 metre superyacht soon which boasts designs by the renowned Espen Oeino, with interiors by Focus Yacht Design.The shipyard express their excitement to be part of the show this year, stating, “The concept of bringing ‘Luxury Without Limits’ to the heart of the world's financial capital is intriguing, and represents a definite opportunity to promote our emerging – and rapidly growing – brand to our European elite audience. Turkish shipyard Sunrise Yachts has announced that another 45 metre superyacht project is currently under construction at their facilities in Antalya. The announcement follows in the wake of the two previously delivered 45 metre yachts; Africa which was built in 2009, and Atomic, which was built in 2014 and has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious World Superyacht Awards later this year.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152956/image/large-722e153e243a94b2a4b74a3b5316dcaa.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152757">The Sunrise 45 metre is a luxurious full-displacement motor yacht offering remarkable volumes at 499 GT, and unusual deck heights. The 45 metre superyacht Atomic is the latest vessel to be launched from the Turkish shipyard Sunrise Yachts, and is the second yacht to be completed from their 45 metre series. The inaugural superyacht from the series, Africa, was launched six years ago in 2009.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152757/image/large-09dca7f26c816a20d1c73d7d4983bfc7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152757">Featuring exterior design by the Italian design studio Studio Scanu and naval architecture done in house in collaboration with Karatas Yacht Design, Atomic is a three deck, full displacement, transatlantic motor yacht, built to operate for private use or charter in all seas and oceans of the world. The story behind her fruition is unique. Launched just last week, the yachts life actually begun in 2010 when she was initially started on speculation by the shipyard as a sistership to the aforementioned Africa. With her high-tensile steel hull, aluminium superstructure, faring, insulation, engines and some systems complete, work ground to a halt until her current North American owner heard about her.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152758/image/large-36001847121d3ea44cea227a7cecfa19.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152758"> <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152759/image/large-54bac655192fe221c394ca348cf2284e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152759">After making a quick enquiry with the shipyard, he was sold, and signed the contract - unbeknownst to his wife and family. The only catch was the yacht had to be completed in just 12 months (in time for the Mediterranean summer cruising season). <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152760/image/large-822589a2b57b23dd03a8b6e09adebe3d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152760">Working hard cater to the proposed delivery time, one year later the yacht was complete, and sailed in to Antalya to surprise her brand new owners. In total, Atomic’s construction took 26 months.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152761/image/large-93b21adbf14c154bc475f057861f633a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152761">vLooking at the finished product, her main characteristics include large volumes at 499 Gross Tons, excellent deck heights, great stability, comfort and seaworthiness, very low levels of sound and vibration, an effective layout, and impressive fuel efficiency.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152762/image/large-431c7745d9a05f66afc29c91ef755be5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152762">Discussing the launch of the yacht, Sunrise Yachts CEO Guillaume Roché, states, “Just like Africa was one of the “star” yachts when introduced at the Monaco Yacht Show, we are confident that the new 45 metre will be one of the most notable yachts delivered worldwide this year in its category. We believe that the yacht further demonstrates our commitment to excellence and to continually improving our standards while remaining a competitive alternative to quality European builders.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152763/image/large-14834dcc0f3c45fae4eec60daa31b7e0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152763">The interiors are the work of the French design studio Franck Darnet Design, and convey a welcoming and contemporary feel throughout Atomic. She accommodates up to ten guests in total over five luxurious rooms, as well as a crew of up to nine. All of the guest cabins are located on the lower deck, consisting of three double rooms and a twin cabin. Access to the guests cabins is offered down a unique sand-ripple wall staircase, in which the designer worked with a Turkish sculptor to perfect the feature.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152764/image/large-df8fb0d51b2a41c202ab0c3a5878f7ed.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152764">The owner’s area is located on the main deck forward, and features a spacious full beam master suite in addition to a study. All rooms are finished in the same tasteful palette as seen throughout the yacht in whites, beiges and dashes of colour from various art and decorative pieces from the owners personal collection.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152765/image/large-0a1093c8052a41fe9cda41b24591e2b8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152765">Commenting on the design brief for the project, Managing Director Franck Darnet says, “Our design work on Atomic has focused on refining the subtle balance between space and materials in order to provide a warm, comfortable feeling on board. The fundamental design option followed a contemporary, bright theme that helped emphasise and highlight stylish details. Most importantly,” he continues, “the yacht’s interior had to reflect the owner’s personalities; warm, serene and attractive.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152766/image/large-caea6e724d8cc8578db68f302625c560.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152766">Elsewhere inside is an expansive main deck salon and formal dining area, as well as an impressive upper saloon which features a particularly long bar.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152767/image/large-d4ad32570846de8988fcee0391739fa3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152767">The upper saloon area is inundated with natural light from large windows, whilst the connection between outdoor and indoor living is successfully found with the large doors that open up onto the upper aft deck, which offers another large formal dining area.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152768/image/large-e00e7cf787559280f9e3e21382129877.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152768">In terms of her outside spaces, Atomic does not disappoint, and has been designed with the owner’s desires firmly in mind. Leading up from the upper aft deck is the sundeck, with a shaded hardtop dining area for the best al fresco dining, a bar with a large TV, as well as a spa pool located forward. An interesting amenity catered exactly to the owner is also found on this deck, with a clay pigeon trap fitted on the rear.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152769/image/large-2fafd5fc19d6d2a8975429e1047baca2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152769">With the owner himself being the owner of a successful dive equipment company, further customisation comes in the garage on board which has been turned into a dive centre with extensive equipment. The 10.3 metres tender which would normally be housed here will be towed behind the vessel.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152770/image/large-a1105d44687c1ef7dd3994f1ebb6519e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152770">In regards to her performance, Atomic is powered by 2 x MTU 12V2000 M70 engines, which give her a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. With her 56,000 litre fuel capacity, she has a range of 4,000 nm.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152771/image/large-8e773b8d268432a48bc00db8fef467ab.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152771">Commenting on her fuel efficiency, Marine Engineer and Operations Manager at Sunrise Yachts, Rasim Ilker Yitik, states, “The highly efficient hull design from Studio Scanu enables Atomic to consume only 100 litres per hour at cruising speed… Enriched with a complete water mist system to provide high end safety, Atomic is the beginning of a new era for Sunrise Yachts.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152772/image/large-df67233ef5ac831e5e4615023d95b50a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152772">Without having seen the yacht in its completed form (and even then only once during its construction!), the day in which not only the owner’s family but also the owner himself saw the yacht for the very first time was no doubt an unnerving one for the Sunrise Yachts team in Antalya. Nerves were unnecessary, though, with the owner commenting on his absolute satisfaction with his brand new superyacht. He says, “I was thrilled to step aboard Atomic at the launch, walking around the yacht everything was just as designed. The team at Sunrise have built me a masterpiece, perfect in fit and finish, crafter with a talent for detail, and not a loose fitting piece of woodwork to be found. “It was a pleasure working with the young company owners and team as they all wanted to go that step further to create a wonderful yachting experience. I love the sturdy steel hull, built to be a worldwide capable yacht, yet designed to be miserly on fuel. Three new letters of intent for Sunrise Yachts

Earlier this month, I visited Sunrise Yachts in Turkey, where I met up with Guillaume Roché, CEO at Sunrise Yachts. Have things changed for you over the past two years?A lot of things have changed. We are obviously very busy with 4 large yachts under construction, and we have also signed one more project. Project Skyfall is a 68 metre superyacht that is going to be quite a substantial project for us, and quite prestigious as well. We have built a new facility and grown our engineering office as well as construction teams. We just launched our second 45 metre and we’ve also had a few refits, so it’s been pretty good since you were here last.We see that a lot more contracts are being signed this year, including Skyfall. Do you feel the market is picking up?Yes, it is certainly picking up. We feel that there is definitely a higher demand, particularly for projects 60 meters and above. In terms of volume there probably isn’t a higher demand, but there is certainly a higher demand in quality than what we used to have before. Compared to before and during the crisis period, we now have serious people that are willing to commit to projects, and that is really good.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151280/image/large-20ba912869882c3beef9902da76d05b4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151280">How many facilities do you now have in Antalya?We’ve built this new building quite rapidly. From London we signed a 63 metre, the first one, which was 4 years ago. We knew that we couldn’t fit it in our initial facility so we built this new facility a few hundred metres away, with direct access to the sea. Facility number two now accommodates three boats up to 70 metres. We built it from scratch again with roughly the same surface area but with a much higher building. We also just recently purchased a third facility which will be dedicated to workshops and storage, because we need a lot of space - we currently have 4 boats under construction and a couple of other refits. This amounts to more than 30,000 m2 of facilities inside the Free Zone.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151281/image/large-260b539591cad7b7265128b2c4239d34.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151281">The first 63 metre was signed 4 years ago. How is she progressing?It’s going well. We are launching it probably early February or the end of January. We’re also planning to launch a boat every 6 months from that moment on; we have the 57 metre, the second 63 metre and, of course, the 68 metre in 2017.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151282/image/large-6feb3bfac77f9acfd25e9859bd3bc458.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151282">Originally you started with two 45 metre projects. You then had several larger projects, including a 57 metre, a 63 metre and a 68 metre. Are you now more focused on the 50-70 metre market?It’s true, the boats are not going to get any smaller. We see more demand for 60+ metres - let’s say around 80% of the demand. We’re occasionally getting demands for above 70, but we’re not particularly keen about going down that road for many reasons. The main one would be infrastructure. We don’t have the capacity to build more than 72 metres. We would probably have to create the infrastructure to do that or do a joint venture with someone else. We’re trying to stay underneath that, but as things go, boats are getting bigger. There is an incredible order book of boats in that size nowadays. Ideally we are going to stay in the 50 to 70 metre range.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151283/image/large-e253f3b2c150345fc2c0049aec305fe0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151283">What is the ideal number of projects you want to have at the same time?For us in the terms of a shipyard, I would say a minimum of four and maximum of six is good.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151284/image/large-98e34b582ec23f688d552c5bea0e6782.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151284">So it wouldn’t be a problem for you to sign two more contracts at this stage?Right now we have one slot open. We have launched the 45, so we’re already planning for a 50+ metre boat now with a client. After launching the 63 next year we are going to have another slot.Would you consider building boats on speculation?<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151285/image/large-bf1adfb6fe89c5565338d39657ab850c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151285">Yes, definitely. What we have already planned to do is to maybe start a second 68 metre hull after the first one. If by spring next year, we haven’t hooked up with a client, we would definitely build a hull and superstructure on speculation.We see the demand and we also realised that nowadays, especially in the size we are talking about, very few people want to wait three years to get a boat. Even though three years is still a really good time for a boat of 60 plus, we realised that the best way to enhance our capacity is to sell up and to offer shorter delays. Therefore we have to start investing in engineering, hull and superstructure.You also have a 34 metre explorer project with the hull and superstructure finished. Is that still a size you would like to focus on?No, that was something that was originally started as a joint venture we had with another company. This is something we want to sell and obviously sell either as it is or to complete, but we don’t want to particularly pursue that size range, for very simple reasons. We now gear for much bigger boats and our overheads are very different.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151286/image/large-eae931dbcd5483684de75b10fbe0d690.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151286">You have two American owners now. Do you see a strong demand from the United States?Absolutely. This is really where the big changes are happening. The Americans are really back. On top of that they don’t have the same prejudiced ideas about Turkey that Europeans do. I think this is where Sunrise Yachts in particular has the strongest appeal. We are, in my opinion, the best value for money in the world in terms of the quality you get for the money you spend. I think Americans are the ones who pioneered all the Taiwanese shipyards, looking outside the US in order to get products done. I would say that still a good portion of the very well established European yards have American owners. They are still looking for high quality, but I think nowadays, with this new economy and this new trend, they are also looking for value.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151288/image/large-ae143ed6d36029b41ccc22441b23ec24.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151288">I have been to a few shipyards in this area and it seems like that the general quality here has gone up as well, not only from Sunrise Yachts but also from Sarp Yachts, who have been investing a lot and taking boat building very seriously. Is that a trend you see in Turkey?Yes absolutely. I think there are now a number of really good people who are dedicated to quality and to equalling the level of quality you find in Europe. We are very happy that all these people are committed to doing that and it has raised the game in Turkey for sure. People like Proteksan have been the main pioneers, creating this awareness of Turkish quality. We still have very disparate levels of quality in Turkey but I would say that there are ten good shipyards in Turkey that are very dedicated to European standards and competing with the best.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151289/image/large-556f0bdf441f4d63185cde6c17c66085.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151289">Is it a challenge to find good employees as a growing company?I think it is a big challenge for any company in any country to find good employees. I think it is a bit more challenging in Turkey for the very simple reason that the high-end yacht building industry is still very new compared to Europe. We are competing with shipyards that have dozens of years of experience. Our industry, as you described it, with this new quality, is maybe 15 years old. We are still suffering a lack of this massive infrastructure that is needed to produce a lot of high quality boats. We still have to draw from a pool of inexperienced people and then train them, which is a very big job.So, the answer is yes and no. Yes it is difficult to find good people but I think that is a common thing anywhere. To find specialist people for certain specific tasks is a bit of a challenge.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151290/image/large-94351ffb8ebef9f219a646d371fcc109.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151290">How important is the refit business for you?It’s kind of growing in Turkey. I mean there has been refits across the whole of the Istanbul area, and Bodrum maybe, as a real beneficial business. Here in Antalya it is a very new thing. We are in the process of negotiation with the Free Zone for infrastructure that will allow us to grow in the refit business. I think it is an essential element for the future of all the shipyards in the Antalya Free Zone. Refits are very good to fill the gaps between new build constructions.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151291/image/large-1b1800f868a1e925b2cf34c1f35b4fa7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151291">Do you think it would be a good idea to have a Turkish shipyard association?This is something I have been trying to do over the last 15 years. I don’t know why it is so difficult to try to get everyone to agree to create an association. I think that we are suffering in a very cruel way, based on the fact that we don’t have a Turkish building association. I have been trying to convince people to do this and it is a major challenge.It’s something that will happen sooner or later in the end, because sooner or later the inevitable use or advantages that it will bring will finally be noticed by the industry players. Yes, I think there is a desperate need for one.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151292/image/large-709b1e5bb2bdaa1e37614acc5ab777ab.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151115">Now you have completed a 45 metres and, soon, a 63 metre would you be interested in joining Sybass?Sure, of course. I think the reason you have an association is to pull resources and to develop common goals to make our industry develop in the mind of others, in the mind of the organisation, in the mind of the public or in the mind of the government. After the launch of Africa (now named Dynasty) five years ago, Sunrise Yachts launched their second superyacht last week. Project Sunset (hull number 182) will be delivered to her Northern American owner next month. Sunrise Yachts signs contract for completion of project Sunset

Sunrise Yachts has been doing very well; earlier this year the company signed contracts for a 63 metre and a 56 metre superyacht. In addition to these two projects Sunrise are also building another 63 metre and a 45 metre motor yacht. The Antalya based superyacht builder Sunrise Yachts informs SuperYachtTimes.com that their first 45 metre superyacht, Africa, is nearing completion and will make her first public appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show.
