Initially serving as a subcontractor, specialising in crafting steel and aluminium hulls and superstructures for other yacht builders. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a> has since focused on constructing fully custom superyachts using these materials. This line offers five models, each ranging from 30 to 45-metres in length, designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/585" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design (Company)">Fulvio De Simoni</a>.<a href="http://superyachttimes.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">Superyacht Times</a> Features Writer Enrico Chhibber met with Federico Rossi, Chief Operating Officer, and Cristian Meriggi, Head of Marketing at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a>, to discuss the company's strategic decision to enter the semi-custom yacht production market, the impact on <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a>'s capacity to build fully custom yachts, and future plans.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/302251/image/large-e64f4a62ba36eca8ff6666a5a12184c4.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/302251">Rossi attributed the strategic decision to establish the semi-custom brand <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7552" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nolimits (Company)">Nolimits</a> to thorough market analysis. He noted,”We realised that this segment lacked high-performance yachts with true marine capability and metal construction, akin to fully custom yachts.”&nbsp;Moreover, he elaborated that <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a> had received numerous inquiries from potential clients. “The full-custom superyacht is a type of product that generally appeals to experienced owners who are familiar with the sea and have already owned other yachts. These owners know exactly what they want from their customised vessels. To cater to this clientele, we design vessels with a high aptitude for the sea, summarising all the needs identified over decades in the industry.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/80766/image/large-e6913114a360c0b91f052161ffb76309.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/80766">When recounting the decision to launch <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7552" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nolimits (Company)">Nolimits</a> as a new brand rather than a line, Rossi clarified that the vision behind <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7552" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nolimits (Company)">Nolimits</a> targets a new market segment. “This brand provides a fleet with a high marine attitude, positioned midway between explorer and superyacht styles, categorising <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7552" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nolimits (Company)">Nolimits</a> in the crossover segment.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/302254/image/large-83b607f510a1020af72f732f94dd83fd.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/302254">Regarding the origin of the name <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7552" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nolimits (Company)">Nolimits</a>, Rossi explained that it was chosen based on two main factors. First, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a> was already accustomed to building fully custom superyachts, and the concept of a semi-custom line meant doing so without limitations, even in the replicable models. Second, these yachts are designed without optional features; everything is integrated, reflecting their commitment to seamless navigation. “The name <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7552" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nolimits (Company)">Nolimits</a> encapsulates this philosophy of unrestricted navigation." They can construct up to four units simultaneously in both Viareggio and Pisa, with the first model already under construction in Viareggio.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/311874/image/large-e5727a5f4b325cf4fb707906bac8f66e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/311874"> Earlier this year <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a> built and launched their first multi-hull superyacht, the 42.75-metre<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/12135" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Seawolf X42.75m (140'3&quot;)Rossinavi2024">&nbsp;Seawolf X</a>. When asked if the yard aims to continue constructing catamarans, Rossi noted that the shipyard intends to pursue this direction, with a focus on envisioning and developing new propulsion systems. Rossi added that the catamaran concept stems from a vision of more sustainable luxury. He emphasised that catamarans are the ideal platform to integrate technologies involving power management and artificial intelligence with machine learning, to identify potential savings in electrical consumption and diesel fuel use. Given its suitability for this purpose, Rossi sees the catamaran as a cautious but growing trend. As a result, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a> has decided to invest in various solutions based on the same Seawolf platform.The conversation then progressed to the adoption of new technologies, such as AI onboard, an area in which <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a> has been actively involved. Rossi explained that <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a>’s R&amp;D department is located at their facility in Viareggio, where they have established partnerships with leading companies in this field. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/304348/image/large-2df9ff142fc9a4b8beb9c731583a8aad.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/304348">For Rossi, the issue with artificial intelligence in the nautical world arises when importing software. The problem is ensuring that a yacht equipped with an AI system can guarantee compatibility and upgrades for the next 15 to 20 years with all other devices. “You can't just rely on any software house to promise this unless it's a trusted name like Microsoft or Apple. There's no equivalent level of trust for others in this field. Therefore, we designed our AI system to be 70 percent hardware,” stated Rossi. He further added, “We built the system so that the software component operates on an open circuit, integrating all devices. There is also machine learning software, which can be swapped out with another one without losing compatibility, though it may lose some memory of previous operations. Ensuring data compatibility is essential, but the electronic brain will still function. This was a challenge we had to address immediately.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/302256/image/large-c180dfb40be0829b195dd36ae1774bfa.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/302256">Regarding future plans and developments, Rossi revealed: "We have built new sheds at our facilities in Pisa, not for significant production expansion, but to work more efficiently. Production expansion is very complex. It is an appetite that comes easily, especially in good market conditions, but then you have to meet the commitments made." He elaborated, "Therefore, a supposed upgrade has been more about managing one extra delivery per year. However, this isn't always the case. For example, there might be a year where we deliver four boats instead of three, but the following year, we might not deliver any."<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/302253/image/large-cf8eeee88a50cd5c92a78d37b73a7ae6.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/302253">Rossi further highlighted: “We've had to address the need for space to handle potential increases in deliveries within a year. Sometimes, this happens due to overlapping orders. We have a plan to manage all our deadlines to fill the slots, but since not all projects are the same, you might end up delivering three, four, or five boats in a given year. When production flexibility is required, you might end up with four deliveries at once, necessitating four sheds to store them.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/304363/image/large-152f32251fc60bdfd6592882cef55ac9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/304363">Concerning the potential expansion of building superyachts over 80-metres, Rossi noted that it is beyond <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a>'s current capabilities. "I believe that up to around 2500 GT in tonnage is a limit that we cannot support with our current infrastructure. However, with our know-how, it might still be possible.""As absurd as it may seem, it's difficult for me to build both a 16-metre and a 130-metre yacht. Everyone has their own target. Rossinavi COO on establishing Nolimits: "The vision targets a new market segment"

Superyacht Times met with Federico Rossi  to discuss the strategic decision to enter the semi-custom yacht production market.

“We actually started in the maritime industry almost four decades ago, in 1980,” starts Federico Rossi, the charming, unconventional and entirely Italian COO of the Rossinavi shipyard as we sit in their modern meeting rooms in Viareggio. This may come as a surprise to those who were only made aware of the brand in 2007 when they emerged as builders of large, custom superyachts with the signing of two significant projects measuring an impressive 53 and 70-metres respectively.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/22685/image/large-4b9eaa55b3acca16c60565d22a695a61.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22685">But even before diving into the deep end of custom superyacht construction under their own brand, the Rossi family had long been connected with the world of building big boats. Founded by brothers Claudio and Paride Rossi in the late 70s and beginning with the reparation of small fishing boats in the Viareggio region, their expertise in naval architecture and engineering soon developed and expanded their horizons. By 1992, the company employed 15 people and was building hulls and superstructures in steel and aluminium for major shipyards that have since become some of their main competitors. &nbsp; &nbsp;Comfortably growing over the next 15 years, it wasn’t until the Global Financial Crisis of 2007/8 hit that the yard - then named Cantiere Navale Fratelli Rossi - were forced to reassess their business model. Oddly enough, whilst some of their main clients were losing business building big boats, this is exactly where the Rossi family turned to save their own business. Rossi explains,&nbsp;“When the market asked for yachts, the historic shipyards were very well equipped to meet that demand. When the GFC hit, these yards were suddenly operating at half their normal production - some even going bankrupt. We were obliged to change our organisation as these yards were our clients: we were also losing business as the GFC took its toll. We already had the expertise in building boats, so this is the direction we took to cover our own operating costs and survive.”<img src="/uploads/store/photo/22657/image/large-293ef5d1f0d8f6b4aaa69f93855e8777.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22657">Of course, it wasn’t as easy as simply making the switch from subcontractor to fully fledged yacht builder. The first hurdle? Attracting a client to build a yacht with Rossinavi without any product to demonstrate their skills.&nbsp;“Believe me,” Rossi assures me,&nbsp;“This was an extremely difficult activity. You are approaching a client with just your promise, your history, and a brochure. We are forever grateful to the owners of our very first projects, the 53.2-metre&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2083" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rarity53.2m (174'6&quot;)">South</a>&nbsp;(now&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2083" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rarity53.2m (174'6&quot;)">Rarity</a>) which we delivered in the summer of 2008, and the 70-metre&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">Numptia</a>&nbsp;(now&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">High Power III</a>), delivered in 2011. Without their faith, we may not have made it.”Considering that projects of 53 and 70 metres are rather significant investments (even if the yard were charging an exceptionally competitive price that basically covered their own costs with no profit!), how did they manage to get those clients to sign on the dotted line? “Well, it came down to the deep knowledge and expertise of our company, our family, and especially my father and my uncle,” says Rossi. &nbsp;With the American owner of&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">Numptia</a>, this knowledge and expertise was shared over a period of three intense months. His lawyers in the States were quick to warn against what they saw as a notable risk, and Rossi laughs as he remembers the struggle:&nbsp;“His lawyers advised him not to build with this yard because the downpayment for the yacht was basically the value of the shipyard at the time! But after three months of visiting the boats we had created for other shipyards, sitting in technical meetings with us, he soon understood that we have knowledge of our own - not knowledge that other shipyards had given us. We do not have a technical department: we are our technical department. And he understood we were capable of creating his custom dream.”<img src="/uploads/store/photo/32486/image/large-f8ec6fce0ab70f99925295f9d59873ed.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/32486">And so <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">Numptia</a> was born - understandably an important milestone for the Rossinavi brand. &nbsp;Actually, the owner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">Numptia</a> was not just an integral part of allowing Rossinavi to show the world what they were capable of, but he is also the very reason behind the name ‘Rossinavi’. “He told us he wants a brand on the side of his boat… Cantiere Navale Fratelli Rossi does not exactly roll off the tongue. And so we created Rossinavi! I still go to America and meet with him sometimes - he is a visionary man.” &nbsp;Since the delivery of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2083" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rarity53.2m (174'6&quot;)">South</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">Numptia</a>, the Rossinavi brand has gone from strength to strength, and clearly the risk their inaugural clients took paid off. The next few years saw multiple custom superyacht deliveries, just a handful including the 46.35m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3727" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="2 Ladies46.35m (152'1&quot;)">2 Ladies</a> in 2012, 48.31m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4299" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Param Jamuna IV48.31m (158'6&quot;)">Param Jamuna IV</a> in 2013, 48.29m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4756" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Polaris I48.29m (158'5&quot;)">Polaris I</a> in 2014, 38.55m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5503" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Taransay38.55m (126'6&quot;)">Taransay</a> in 2015, 49.9m<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5918" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Endeavour II 49.9m (163'9&quot;)">&nbsp;Endeavour II</a> and the 49m&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5953" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Aurora49.0m (160'9&quot;)">Aurora</a> in 2017 and, just three days before our interview in early June, their most recent delivery: the 63m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5696" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Utopia IV63.0m (206'8&quot;)">Utopia IV.</a>The future looks to be just as busy for Rossinavi, with no less than three yachts currently under construction, each scheduled for completion in 2020. And now with a string of successful deliveries under their belt, Rossi tells me that the time has come for the brand to focus their efforts on a more concentrated endeavour: to crack the American market. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/26756/image/large-65e4c36ce875f83e0104b4dd2f65b937.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/26756">This is not as simple as merely attracting more American clients to the Italian brand, but is focused on offering something different to American clients to make that happen. That something will be to incorporate American components into their projects. Why? For easy maintenance State-side. “We want to follow the ideas of our American client,” Rossi says. “They have a lot of great components, for our boats for US clients (and standards) we are importing all technical elements directly. We don’t want them to have to go through a lengthy, expensive process when it comes to maintenance of their dream. That’s why we also set up a small office in Florida for after sales, and we include two years of warranty to all of our customers.” &nbsp;And now that the financial side of the business is healthy, will Rossinavi continue to offer only custom products? The answer from the ever-passionate Rossi was a resounding ‘yes’... Here, he explains why. &nbsp;From the very beginning, Rossinavi offered only custom projects. Why? &nbsp;Well, from a financial side, at the beginning it was necessary for us to keep our money in the bank and only begin with construction once we had sold the product. But more than that, I do not like trying to convince someone that they should buy a specific boat: our specific boat that we have created with no specific individual in mind. Our vision has always been to build dreams, to understand what a client wants to create. What will they be using the boat for? Where? What is the owner’s lifestyle like, what is his mood like? Does he want speed, or does he want a full displacement boat? That is how you build the best boat possible. It’s all about a perfect synthesis between brand and client. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/28810/image/large-4409d3c54214e53f2c1d8128aff82857.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/28810">The custom yacht market is a niche, competitive market. How do you differentiate yourself from your competitors?&nbsp;&nbsp;For us, it is clear. We are one of the only fully custom shipyards that do not combine custom superyacht building with other areas. A lot of yards have a strategy in place whereby they have custom yachts as their main business, but serial production in the background or a sector of their business focused on commercial vessels, with the management of a marina, or a refit facility. Our business is to produce only fully custom yachts. I think that is the best approach to luxury boats. &nbsp;What do people come to Rossinavi for? &nbsp;Our vision and our expertise in engineering. The difficult thing for us sometimes is that people do not always fully understand what a full custom boat is. For us, we develop concepts as proposals, which we use to start a discussion and to show what is possible with custom projects. With Pininfarina for example, we presented a really unique project, but we have four other concepts with Pininfarina too that remain entirely secretive. We also have another two new concepts with Team4Design, and we use these as a basis to start discussions. &nbsp;Define custom in your own words.&nbsp;Fully custom is when all the aspects of the boat are in accordance with itself. That means that every single component has been built specifically for that vessel. People may think that some components are the same from boat to boat… but they are not. We create every single piece for each individual project. Then the yacht is not fully custom. When a client then wants a bigger beach club or anything else, you can either say yes or no. Generally, people say yes and sell the vessel. But then you must calibrate the yacht differently. The vessel is modified from the beginning. Our approach is different. We do not want to use the platform, because we study the layouts, we tank test for three or four months, especially for comfort. We are engineers at our core. We study every aspect, weight, distribution, the hull form. Insight: Rossinavi, the evolution of Italian subcontractors turned custom superyacht creators

With her distinguishing sports car look and sleek, dynamic exterior, the 50-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5953" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Aurora46.8m (153'7&quot;)">Aurora</a> remains one of the wildest launches of 2017. The Italian stallion built for a young owner is designed to look every part a speeding demon, with the volume and interior comfort of a limousine. More Transformer than superyacht, we took a look on board to get a better idea of how life on this custom Rossinavi is like.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/22685/image/large-4b9eaa55b3acca16c60565d22a695a61.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22685"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/22678/image/large-97d32c1ae819828d7bab02083950cf17.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22678">The design approach revolved around creating a sub-500 GT vessel with a massive beach club where the owner could spend his days at anchor in a claustrophobic-free environment. From here, designer Fulvio De Simoni and Rossinavi were given free reign to create something exceptional in terms of exterior styling. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/22676/image/large-219bbec07d0ee583811e7f8aa30ecda5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22676"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/34529/image/large-ffa48db9c26165e6ac66f9846d508bfd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34529">A unique full-beam main deck layout was opted for to help get the most of the available interior volume as well as keeping exterior line sharp and clean. Exterior traffic flow is mainly limited to the upper deck where two side decks connect stern with bow as you pass the upper master suite (there is a second master suite forward on the main deck) and the wheelhouse.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/22648/image/large-f07415ff1c97ba7934a1a6e2384bca60.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22648"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/22645/image/large-f7477f44f755c85d421bc6e41057c01c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22645">The forward part of the exterior is dedicated to a grand lounging area with a big sun pad and plush seating area. From here, two staircases lead down to the foredeck technical area which makes just as a good chill out spot for guests looking for that extra bit of privacy.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/22646/image/large-ca863965205843e15d291a2cf25f8a4a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22646">The upper aft deck is where Aurora’s pool is situated which is conveniently placed right outside the upper master suite – a perfect way to start the day.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/34527/image/large-89c7fb874206fd3fbbfaf5757e77cd5e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34527">In stark contrast to the masculine exterior, Aurora’s interior designer Achille Salvagni went for a toned-down and more lifestyle-friendly scene on the inside. Custom pieces from Salvagni’s studio bring curves into play that one would not expect after having studied the sharp exterior. Velvet and a selection of organic materials encourage one to feel and connect with spaces, making Aurora seem, for a moment, half human.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/34537/image/large-7b75fdaddbbbf08333f33b74211e68b5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34537">Step onto the bridge, however, and you are quickly reminded of the aggressive nature of this beast. The all-black control centre comes alive at night with red LED accent lighting that would, at night, scare away any pirate ship. It is here where the captain controls the two MTU M93L engines that are responsible for Aurora’s 21-knot top speed.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/34528/image/large-f8eb7c638c498d9ec31dfada5a0d4a5d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34528">The interior layout resembles a 60 to 70-metre vessel with three large suites on the main deck alone, something not found on every yacht of this size. This is of course only possible because of the full-beam main deck and allowed designers and engineers to also experiment with technical areas in much the same way, such as the full beam tender garage forward of the beach club.&nbsp;The main saloon is a combination of a funky lounge space and oversized dining area set amongst touches of black and gold and other cold metal surfaces for an ultra cool feel. The full beam arrangement makes for an extra light setting thanks to those life-sized side windows that let is untouched natural light.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/34536/image/large-1193f8765b8a8a3071a887c2e7962bf9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34536"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/34538/image/large-1c4aea0bd6f604babe89729fc7dd8ac6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34538">From here, a central corridor leads past two VIP staterooms before reaching the main master suite. With a true forward-facing view like few other 50-metres can offer, it is impossible to ignore the 180-degree view that hits you in the face as you enter the suite. Two cut-outs in the hull outside help the cabin to not become an enclosed box with a view that only looks over winches and an anchor windlass. In addition, a curved sofa and loose furniture give this suite a real apartment feel.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/34532/image/large-20f4073cb98abf25aa74940c9415ceca.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34532"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/34534/image/large-30c672ad1b97339eb5f347e0ca9df2d9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34534">The master ensuite is adorned with reflective surfaces ranging from stainless to high-gloss woods and marbles.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/34533/image/large-dfb2fd5e8a584b03c635989335ebec01.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34533">The second master suite is directly connected to the exterior via a curved glass door that leads out onto the upper deck. The same curves that make the main saloon such an inviting space are also used here to soften the edges from the deck spaces just a few steps away.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/34540/image/large-593f534929553eb813498531586fd584.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34540"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/34539/image/large-5da15d609336a481b0e223140a812629.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34539">Downstairs there are two additional guest cabins, taking the total guest count to 12 overnight passengers. Rossinavi has launched its second superyacht in the space of two months when the 49-metre project FR034 was lowered into the water at their Viareggio shipyard. The all-aluminium semi-displacement yacht features a sporty and sleek exterior design by Fulvio de Simoni and Arrabito Naval Architects.

Named Aurora, the sub 500 GT yacht is fitted with twin MTU 4000 M93L engines to push her to a top speed of 21 knots and delivers a respectable cruising speed of around 17 knots at half load. She will reach 3,800 nm on one tank when maintaining an economical speed of 12 knots.

Rossinavi’s 49m superyacht Aurora launched

SuperYacht iQ, the new market intelligence division of SuperYacht Company, analysed the market for aluminium motor yachts over 30 metres recently, following the surge of companies announcing new aluminium vessels over the past few months.Looking at the past 10 years, there were 245 motor yachts over 30 metres completed with an aluminium hull. In this segment Heesen Yachts is the market leader, with a total of 34 delivered yachts totalling 1,484 metres. Just behind Heesen is Trinity Yachts with 31 yachts, followed by Palmer Johnson with 23 yachts and Baglietto with 20 yachts. Mondomarine and Admiral have both delivered 13 yachts in total. Combined, these six shipyards have built close to 55% of all aluminium motor yachts over 30 metres in the past 10 years.We asked several leaders in this segment, as well as some of the new entrants, the following questions regarding their opinion on aluminium yachts: 1) The market for fast yachts took a big hit during the crisis. Do you feel the market is growing again?2) Is aluminium becoming more popular over GRP? Heesen Yachts – Mark Cavendish - Director Sales &amp; Marketing1) From our side we have signed a total of 16 contracts for fast aluminium yachts out of a total of 29 contracts signed since 2008. This is 55% of all contracts signed. I would agree this is a slightly lower mix than the long-term average, which is closer to 60/40. So is the fast aluminium market growing? I would say yes, there are definite signs of more interest in the sector. Consider that at Heesen we are building one of the largest high-speed aluminium yachts, the 70 metre Kometa with a top speed of 30 knots.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158273/image/large-4bb3f4670ae61b8841c1ba7113f36a76.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150767">2) It is not easy for us to reply on this because we do not build yachts in GRP. I would have thought it more a matter of size. It is unusual to have large, high speed GRP yachts much over 40 or 50 metres, so aluminium is popular in this range. Below 35 metres, GRP is more popular.We are not surprised that competitors are entering this sector, and before the financial crisis there were several competitors who left and are now coming back. This illustrates the growing interest in fast aluminium yachts.Mondomarine/Cantieri di Pisa – Roberto Zambrini - CEO1) It’s not actually true that fast boats clients are coming back. Speed is no longer a trend. Clients are today looking for comfort and low running costs. That’s why the semi-displacement hulls we have engineered for both the Akhir 42S and M60 Sea Falcon can go up to high speed but are extremely efficient at low speed, granting fuel economy and high range.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158274/image/large-4fdb259a12c2a41fb085766427428d7b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/156472">2) Our philosophy and strategy are based on metal; so, regardless, it’s steel or aluminium. Steel and aluminium grant infinite customisation opportunities, that’s the key of our success today. Another aspect nobody is paying attention to today is the disposal of the yachts once their lives are over. Aluminium and steel can easily be recycled, what will happen with GRP?Overmarine – Francesco Frediani - Commercial Director1) That is absolutely not true at all. In a crisis it is the leaders who make themselves felt in their particular sector. This is exactly what we have done, delivering, since it’s presentation in year 2007, 9 units of the Mangusta 165 model alone with a further 2 currently being built. Absolute values are not touched by a crisis, at all. On the contrary, they are exalted and leadership is reinforced. This is why we are now able to offer alternatives, extending the values of our brand to other market segments.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158275/image/large-9d6fbee3c03b9bc5f9c6c4e4c29b2289.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/153155">2) The use of aluminium is simply due to production reasons and investment. The lengths of hulls measuring over 40 metres and the expected number of units being built (just a very few, and non-standardised production) combined with the high level of customisation required make aluminium the most suitable material, both economically and for the time to market as it requires no models/mock-up or moulds. Aluminium matches more the requirement of the market today and that is why we also selected aluminium for some of our new models.Pershing - Stefano de Vivo, Chief Commercial Officer of the Ferretti Group1) The global yachting market in general was dramatically hit by the crisis of the past few years, not just the fastest yachts one. Despite these tricky economic circumstances, Pershing never lost its worldwide reputation of being a leading company in the Made in Italy composite sport yacht sector. We strongly feel that the market has overtaken the hardest part of the crisis. Actually, the Pershing 108, launched in April 2011, is still in production, and we may proudly say that in 2015 we delivered hull #3 and we sold hull #4 too, now under construction. Hull #5 is under lamination, and will be delivered in Spring 2017.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158276/image/large-744255892b570c98e50213b6f3f88e53.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/135207">2) In 30 years of business Pershing has built more than 30 models, many of which come in more than one version, to meet the needs of different customers and cultures. This means that evolution has always been in the Pershing DNA. Therefore, aluminium has always been the choice for the new 140’, since the Product Strategic Committee, together with the Ferretti Group Engineering Department and architect Fulvio De Simoni started thinking of the new flagship. This material is extremely flexible above a specific length, and let the shipyard offer its owners great opportunities of customising both the exteriors and the interiors of their yacht.Rossi Navi - Filippo Ceragioli - International Marketing and Communication Manager1) Since the market restarted in 2014, we have sold three aluminium yachts that are actually in production, our FR031 with 4 Kamewa/Rolls Royce engines with a length of 63 metres, the FR031 diesel electric born around the returned consciousness of reducing the navigation impact toward the environment, and the Fulvio De Simoni new design Longitude Project, our latest yacht with a length of 47 metres.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158277/image/large-55bbe3ed1ef81f9f17bf47f2898a67e0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158277">2) We hope so, not only for our company skills as we also build yachts in steel, but mainly for issues related to the end of the product life cycle. Aluminium is a versatile material with a very long life through the recycling chain. In regards to GRP we are aware about the concrete absence of a European and Global plan of how to recycle or give new life to such material.Turquoise Yachts – Cristian Schwarzwälder - Sales1) In my opinion the market is definitely picking up momentum, especially in the U.S. market.We are fortunate to have a very solid financial foundation and our business plan allows us to start projects before we have a buyer. Rossi Navi hull FR034 turned

Rossi Navi has announced that their latest custom motor yacht project, the Longitude 47, has been sold. The 46.80 metre aluminium vessel has a beam of 8.90 metres and a draft of 1.85 metres.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/2134/image/large-0e63f8c574ebbf42a148f5ff27ef1f42.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/2134"> On board she accommodates up to 12 guests over six cabins, including a panoramic owner’s cabin as well as two VIP cabins located on the main deck. Aa crew of up to 9 are also accommodated for. Her living spaces are commodious, with three big saloons including one of which is a continuation of the beach area.Performance wise she is powered by twin MTU 12V4000 M93L engines, giving her a top speed of 21 knots, a minimum speed of 17 knots, and a range of 3,800 nm.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/22790/image/large-c8a89444e4d3d8c95f47bdc3d88c8e7c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22790"> Federico Rossi comments, “The Longitude 47 is a unique boat in its design, the large spaces available onboard are usually expected on displacement yachts with classic lines. Now, through the vision in yacht design, Fulvio De Simoni and the Rossinavi yacht building skills, those spaces are also belonging to sportive and innovative new yachts. The large garage can accommodate two tenders, two seabobs, two jetskis, scuba equipment and others toys. The project include also a telescopic gym placed at the bow area.”Designer Fulvio de Simoni continues, “An innovative architecture allowed us to develop a sporty yacht with unusual proportions. The raised cockpit above the main deck connects and approaches formally the sun deck to the main deck and allows to obtain an open area but with great privacy on of the aft part of the main deck saloon. Few but sharp traits gives an unique personality and a determination to a clean and pure design.”
