It is with great sadness that we announce the death of naval architect <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4956" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Don O'Keeffe (Company)">Don O’Keeffe</a>, who passed away at his home in Manitowoc, Wisconsin this week aged 90.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/387604/image/large-80b52b973bc347f4dff047ed19aec2e2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/387604"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4956" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Don O'Keeffe (Company)">Don O’Keeffe</a> was known for his work with the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/145" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Burger Boat Company (Company)">Burger Boat Company</a> where he designed many of their vessels. “Don was one of our first employees when we were reviving the business back in the early 1990’s,” said Jim Ruffolo, Chairman of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/145" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Burger Boat Company (Company)">Burger Boat Company</a>.“He brought integrity, discipline, and deep knowledge to everything he touched. He was a true advisor, a trusted source, and above all, a real friend.”Born in Schull in West Cork, Ireland, he went by the name Donal as a child, which was later shortened to Don. He moved to Connecticut in the United States in 1965 after pursuing his degree in architecture in Dublin, Ireland.&nbsp;In 1978, Don and his wife moved to New Orleans, where he worked for Halter Marine, which later became the parent company of Trinity Yachts. Naval Architect Don O’Keefe passes away aged 90

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of naval architect Don O’Keeffe, who passed away aged 90.

The 35.38-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/145" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Burger Boat Company (Company)">Burger Boat Company</a> motor yacht Patriot sold after 172 days on the market. The deal was concluded by Chris Callahan of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/227" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moran Yacht & Ship (Company)">Moran Yacht &amp; Ship</a> who introduced the buyer, while Wes Sandford of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/526" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Northrop and Johnson (Company)">Northrop and Johnson</a> who represented the seller.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/20822/image/large-149e67c0a83369ad09dd52ac8dfde2cc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/20822">Launched in 2005 and refitted in 2021, the yacht features exterior design from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4956" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Don O'Keeffe (Company)">Don O'Keeffe</a>, who also penned her interior styling. The 35m Burger superyacht Patriot in Mexico

The staging of the 2011 Shipyard Cup 12-14 August is on schedule. The “Big Boat Racing" is back in Maine. “We are very pleased with the interest thus far of 11-12 boats this year” said event chairman Ed Roberts - Hodgdon Yachts Sales and Marketing director – Main Sponsor of the event. “We expect to host nearly 250 owners, captains, crew and guests” Roberts went on to say.
