The explorer has been designed for an experienced yacht owner who requested a yacht that could handle long-range, super-efficient cruising. Therefore we agreed to collaborate with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/908" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hot Lab (Company)">Hot Lab</a> to create a versatile exploring super yacht under 500 gross tonnes. The superyacht will be able to accommodate as many as 12 guests and nine crew, and is set to be teeming with amenities. Arguably, her most standout feature is her open aft deck that is incredibly versatile, as it can be used for tender storage or transformed into a very generous social space, thanks to a pair of fold-out wings in her bulwark. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/241493/image/large-ade91f23f5e66842492740a8880ba3e9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/241493">The aft deck is home to a large pool and has multiple seating arrangements spread across the tri-tired deck space; offering guests a space that is simultaneously social and private. The superyacht is being built to a design by Ivan Erdevicki and his Vancouver-based studio, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1343" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ER Yacht Design (Company)">ER Yacht Design</a>, and boasts state-of-the-art luxury coupled with round-the-world capabilities, meeting stringent ice &amp; polar class requirements.&nbsp;“This is the kind of project that a yacht designer waits for all his life,” Ivan Erdevicki commented. “The owner specifically requested a custom-designed long-range go-anywhere project for an expedition motor yacht, with style and an elegant timeless-classic look, that I was very happy to land on my desk!”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/223056/image/large-ce046b6ac62cb1b45b6099b4d8c51c81.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/223056">The 65-metre ER65 marks the start of a promising long-term partnership between the Canadian design studio and the Turkish shipyard. RMK Marine reasserts itself in the superyacht sector with three impressive projects in-build

RMK Marine have announced that they will be showcasing the 45 metre Ron Holland designed motor yacht Karia at the forthcoming Monaco Yacht Show. Karia which is currently for sale will be on display throughout the show on Quai de l’Hiroudelle. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/140207/image/large-cdbba145b789fc51e39eb4048374cf58.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/139574">Karia is an excellent example of the quality of build by RMK Marine and she recently received a special recognition at the World Superyacht Awards. Designed for the experienced yacht owner for long distance voyaging Karia has been built to extremely high quality and specifications with long term low maintenance as a priority requirement. Particular attention has been given to ensure an efficient and sea kindly hull design, low vibration and noise and exceptional interior volume for a 45m yacht. Her stunning interior was created by Design Unlimited. A number of features separate this yacht from many others. The 500GT sized yacht, has an exceptional use of space to maximise comfort with light, airy and versatile spaces for up to 12 guests. Superyacht Karia to be displayed at Monaco Yacht Show

Following a very successful completion in July last year, RMK Marine will be exhibiting Nazenin V at the Monaco Yacht Show 22 – 25 September 2010 for the first time. RMK Marine will be showing the award winning 52m ketch Nazenin V designed by Sparkman &amp; Stephens with a stunning interior by Redman, Whiteley, Dixon Ltd. <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/804"><img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/132221/image/large-13484da15e9f39a15cd359a469225eb8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/132221">Nazenin V</a> already has one award to her name and has been nominated for several prestigious awards in the Superyacht industry. The award nominations are a true reflection of RMK Marine’s capabilities which are clearly displayed with the fine range of previous builds as well as several currently in production. There are 3 Oyster Superyachts by Dubois currently in build, two Oyster 100’s and an Oyster 125 the first of which is to be launched later this year. At RMK Marine there is also a 45m classic explorer style yacht designed by Ron Holland, this has reached the internal fit stage with an elegant interior by Design Unlimited. Since Nazenin V Sparkman &amp; Stephens have gone on to design a larger 56m sibling. The 56m maintains the classic, timeless lines of the hull and superstructure so elegantly constructed on Nazenin V. Slightly more rake in her transom and increased curvature in the bow profile differentiate her above the waterline. She will maintain similar hull lines and ship a modern spade rudder; both of which proved very effective following the launch and successful season on Nazenin V. The increased hull dimensions and desire to carry more sail, coupled with the need to maintain a reasonable draft, have necessitated the utilisation of a daggerboard to maintain upwind sailing performance. Below decks S&amp;S has designed a layout that will accommodate eight guests in four staterooms, all with en-suite facilities, including a fitness room, plus the owner’s suite aft. RMK Marine will be exhibiting superyacht Nazenin V at the Monaco Yacht Show 

Nazenin V was launched recently at the RMK Marine Shipyard in Tuzla, Turkey. The elegant aluminium 52m ketch was launched on the new specialist custom design rail slipway at the yard. The yacht dominated the slipway, which is designed to carry vessels with a capacity of up to 60m in length and 685 tonnes. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/128299/image/large-506d80263e0d587ebec26884308de4b4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/128299">The yards representative commented that “the process has progressed smoothly and all the various parties involved were pleased with the development. The yacht is floating nicely with hydraulics and electrics running smoothly”. Sail trials are currently taking place close to RMK Marine in Tuzla. The interior has been designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon Ltd and is traditionally styled with teak panelled interior with sycamore inlay detailing and brass fittings. With the idea of world cruising in mind, the owners accommodation is unusually located amidships. Nazenin V has been designed by Sparkman &amp; Stephens to maximize cruising enjoyment through performance in a wide range of conditions. The lines are an elegant blend of classic with graceful sheer overhangs and the contemporary pilothouse, large flybridge and clean superstructure lines. RMK has a busy order book with a 45m Motor Yacht under construction as well as the Dubois designed Oyster 100 and Oyster 125 which are progressing in the purpose built facility at the yard. Nazenin V launched at the RMK Marine Shipyard

The first two Oyster Superyachts designed by Dubois are starting to take shape at the RMK Marine facility in Tuzla, Turkey. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/126789/image/large-3fce825337b4a3922b2b70065ac42f6a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/126789"> The Oyster 100 is the first of these to go into production and it is progressing well in the new purpose built facility. Currently the mould is being prepared to infuse the first hull and tests were recently successfully carried out on a full size test infusion of a 3m hull through midship section. The hull moulding is expected to be completed by April when RMK Marine will start to fit the engine and stern gear. Oyster superyachts take shape at RMK Marine

Harken has supplied the 52-meter Sparkman &amp; Stephens designed flybridge ketch, Nazenin V with a wide range of equipment, featuring significant new product offerings from Harken. Built, and fitted at RMK Yachts in Tuzla, Turkey, this aluminum Megayacht is one of the highest quality yachts to come out of Turkey. Harken has worked with RMK and Sparkman &amp; Stephens to fit the yacht with one of Harken’s first megayacht powered hydraulic systems. The yacht is also controlled by a complete Harken deck package, featuring stainless and chrome winches, and over 50 pieces of custom made stainless steel deck hardware. Hydraulics <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/126318/image/large-2b2e3f4c9407ec73c1184e12433062ec.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/126318">The Nazenin V custom hydraulic power system allows the crew to easily control all hydraulic functions and sail controls, including, backstay, outhaul, boom vang, furling and winch systems with push button control and simplicity. The versatile hydraulic power system on Nazenin V also includes PTO (power take off) pumps, valve manifolds, and electrical control systems. The system is easy to maintain and service, with preventative maintenance programs available. “Our team worked closely with our colleagues at Sparkman &amp; Stephens and RMK throughout this collaborative project that helped Harken properly enter the megayacht sector," explained Peter Harken.” We never take a project like this lightly, and coming in as the newcomers on in the hydraulics field for such a yacht, we have worked tirelessly to make sure everything is right. We appreciate the importance of this yacht as an entry for us into the hydraulics world,” explained Harken. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/126319/image/large-8945caa9019bde1ee331b1c95b1f846b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/126319">Winches Nazenin V features four different types of winches. Two stainless steel B1135’s are used as halyard and utility winches. Two stainless steel B1150’s are used for moorings and MPS Sheet winches and two stainless steel B990’s are used at the mizzenmast base. All three types of winches come standard with three speeds. The B1150 also features a backwind option, used for relieving high loads before releasing lines. Two B60’s are used as forward utility winches on Nazenin V, these two speed electric winches have been supplied in all chrome with custom-made stainless steel risers. All of Nazenin V’s winches are hydraulically driven by the boat’s central hydraulic system. They operate using waterproof switches, and a locking handle can be inserted when the winch is not under load and will automatically disconnect the electric motor gearbox. Captive Reel Winches <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/126320/image/large-22bda10e1ae65b6436a74385a657da17.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/126320">Nazenin V is equipped with three types of Captive Reel winches. The CR50, CR40 and CR33 are all hydraulically powered winches comprised of Brevini hydraulic industrial class auto change two speed motors, automatic fail safe break and an epicyclic industrial class gearbox. Gearboxes fit with in the 316 stainless winch drums. Nazenin V uses CR50’s for her Genoa sheets, and each as a maximum working load of 15,000kgs. CR40 has a maximum working load of 10,000kgs and is used on the staysail, mainsheet, main halyard, and main checkstays. The CR33’s are used on the runner foreguys as well as mizzen sheets, and mizzen halyard. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/126321/image/large-42b1d810a5142ea3a2523d9c640cde9b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/126321">Deck Hardware Harken has supplied Nazenin V with 58 individual pieces of stainless steel deck hardware, weighing a mere 681kg (1500lbs). Blocks on the Nazenin V were designed and laid out to handle the loads of the captive reel winches. Many blocks, like the thru-deck turning blocks of the staysail sheets, have safe working loads of 30 metric tons (66,000 lbs). All stainless blocks feature sheaves made of 6061 T-6 aluminum, that are Teflon impregnated and Hardkote anodized. A composite bearing system handles the primary load of the block, while Torlon ball bearings handle side loads.

The masts for the 52m ketch Nazenin V being built at RMK Marine in Turkey have been delivered. The all carbon spar package has been produced by Southern Spars. Nazenin V’s spar package is made from prepreg standard modulus carbon fibre. The Main mast is a five spreader rig that stands at 59.69m tall. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/126159/image/large-cb4bc6c8447c39a119bca370333223f0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/126159">The Mizzen mast has three sets of spreaders and has an LOA of 40.88m. The spar package includes two Leisurefurl booms and a Crows Nest. The masts are currently being dressed and completed ready in good time for launching early in 2009. The rest of the build has progressed well, and hull painting will be taking place this month. The lower deck cabins, styled by Redman, Whitely, Dixon, have been completed and specialised joinery pieces such as uniquely commissioned tables have been arriving onsite. The teak decks are also looking exceptional and have been made up in the joinery facility alongside the boat. This practice meant that the teak boards for the complete sky deck were fitted in just two days. RMK Marine currently has a busy order book with the new Dubois designed Oysters commencing build as well as several other projects including some major refit work.

Masts arrive for Nazenin V

This month has seen the one piece deckhouse successfully fitted on Nazenin V, the 52m aluminium ketch currently in build at RMK Marine in Turkey. The 19 tonne alloy structure is 27m long 8m wide and was lifted with 4 overhead factory cranes clearing the hull with just 40mm to spare and fitting into the deck rebate perfectly. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/124697/image/large-4ace199b11c3e36dcf98e5c8c1b4ea48.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/124697">This is yet another key step in the build, which is scheduled for completion later this year. The next stage of the build will see the running of services to the deckhouse and fitting of the upper deck floors and bulkheads as well as running the hydraulic system pipe work into the deck winch lockers. Within the yacht several guest cabins and forward crew cabins are completed and all the main machinery has been installed. The shaft and rudder will commence installation this month and the carbon rig will leave from New Zealand during May ready for dressing at the yard in July. All the materials and interior decorations have also now been selected for the yacht. The owner, Mr Koç, has a museum in Turkey and the Project Manager recently visited the museum workshops to view the chosen art collection for the boat. Paul Johnson commented “the build is progressing well and the skills and workmanship available at the yard are producing what will be a premier class sailing yacht. The owner has been watching progress closely and is looking forward to taking delivery”. RMK Marine currently has a busy order book with the new Dubois designed Oysters commencing build and a new motor yacht build to be announced shortly.

Nazenin V has deckhouse fitted

RMK yachts opened a new composite construction facility at their yard in Tuzla, Turkey. This new composite construction facility houses a 40-metre long oven, and has been purpose designed and built to manufacture the new Dubois/Oyster 100’ and 125’ composite Superyachts to the highest standards of construction. RMK is currently building a classic style Sparkman and Stevens designed <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/804">52m aluminium ketch</a>. The hull is complete and outfitting is well under way. Launch is scheduled for the later part of 2008. In addition construction of the <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1782">Oyster 100</a> hull plug has started with deck plug construction due to start in February. Tooling for the new Oyster 125 will follow directly on from Oyster 100 tooling. <noscript></noscript>

New composite construction facility for RMK Yachts

RMK are proud to reveal the name of the Sparkman &amp; Stephens designed yacht that until now has been known only by its build number. The 52m yacht is called <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/804">Nazenin V</a> and is owned by Mr Rahmi Koç, honorary Chairman of Koç Holdings and RMK Marine. The interior design of the yacht will be completed by well known designers Redman, Whitely and Dixon. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/122830/image/large-24efd360ad1d41b2c58bc177f8250568.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/122830"> Mr Rahmi Koç has always had a passion for yachts and has done extensive cruising throughout the world. <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/804">Nazenin V</a> however may be sold once completed as the owner already has his sights on another new venture. The RMK Marine team were joined by Mr Rahmi Koç recently at an event to mark the turning of the hull. <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/804">Nazenin V</a> was pulled slowly out of its massive shed where it had been welded by the RMK Marine team and four large cranes then carefully turned it over before it was returned to the shed to commence the next stage of fit out. Paul Johnson, Project Manager commented “Now we will see the boat really start to take shape, we are pleased with progress to date”. Much of the interior is already constructed in the purpose built facility at RMK Marine, with part of the teak deck laid out ready to be put in place and secured to the hull.<noscript></noscript>
