She features naval architecture from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1234" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Arrabito Naval Architects (Company)">Arrabito Naval Architects</a> and both an interior and exterior design by Enrico Gobbi of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1197" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Team 4 Design (Company)">Team 4 Design</a>. King Shark&nbsp;is not quite<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">&nbsp;Rossinavi’s</a> biggest yacht; that title goes to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)Rossinavi2011">High Power III&nbsp;</a>(formerly Numptia), which is the same length overall but of slightly higher volume. Nor is it the shipyard’s first diesel-electric yacht; that was Endeavour II in 2017. But, when launched later this year, she will rank as one of the custom builder’s most technically advanced projects to date.&nbsp;The brief&nbsp;King Shark is in build for a repeat client who wants to travel the world from the regular Mediterranean and Caribbean cruising grounds to the much harsher conditions of the Baltic Sea and Arctic regions. Desiring the long range and autonomy of an explorer yacht, without the chunky styling that often goes with such vessels, he also wanted to make use of up-to-date propulsion technology. As the satisfied former owner of 49-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4756" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Polaris I48.3m (158'6&quot;)Rossinavi2014">Polaris</a>, he went straight to the same design and build team: Enrico Gobbi of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1197" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Team 4 Design (Company)">Team for Design</a> for the exterior and interior, Giuseppe Arrabito for the naval architecture, and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi&nbsp;</a>for the construction. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181176/image/large-91c044277e5998c39850a70a10c0b579.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181176">At 70 metres and 1,560 GT, new yacht King Shark is a step up from the previous aluminium <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4756" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Polaris I48.3m (158'6&quot;)Rossinavi2014">Polaris</a> – and not only in length and volume. Cruising the freezing waters of the Arctic required a reinforced steel hull to meet category II requirements under Finnish-Swedish Ice Class Rules for summer conditions. The 10-metre limo tender, also in build at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi,</a> is Ice Class category II as well.&nbsp; “Just as important is protecting the seawater cooling systems in sub-zero conditions,” says the owner’s representative, Albert McIlroy of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4879" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Optimus Navis (Company)">Optimus Navi.</a> “The intakes for the sea chests are designed so that they can’t be blocked by ice; when underway the warmer cooling water from the generators is discharged into the sea chests; and when using shore power in port we have resistors that heat the water slightly to ensure it doesn’t freeze.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181173/image/large-3d43d6d4872f7589a40dc5378064fd06.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181173">But the most significant divergence from the owner’s previous yacht is the diesel-electric (DE) propulsion, which is still a rarity on superyachts. In a DE system, diesel engines serve as generators to produce electricity for the hotel services and also for propulsion via flexible cabling to electric motors that drive the propellers. The absence of drive shafts means there is no need for gearboxes.Formulating a fuel-efficient vesselThe upside of DE is more efficient power management, flexible layout solutions, and less noise and vibration as there are no hard-mounted drive shafts. The downside is a higher initial cost and more space required for all the frequency converters and switchboards – valuable real estate that could otherwise be earmarked for owner or guest use.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181177/image/large-55da91b3517fe9180ea85d81140ec6bd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181177"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181175/image/large-4a468c044359649363cb3508779b9854.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181175">“The owner saw the direction environmental legislation is taking and was interested in alternatives to conventional inline shafts from the start,” says Federico Rossi, COO of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a>. “This is something we encouraged because we believe diesel-electric on yachts is more about positive perception and the efficient use of energy rather than saving fuel.”&nbsp;King Shark&nbsp;has a next-gen version of the diesel-electric power plant with Rolls-Royce pods<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">&nbsp;Rossinavi</a> installed on 50-metre Endeavour II. Five Caterpillar gensets (x3 1,025 ekW and x2 337 ekW units) provide around 3.8MW of power for hotel and propulsion needs. Fixed pitch propellers were originally specified for the two azimuthing Rolls-Royce Azipull AZP85 pods coupled to Marelli 1,570 kW e-motors. However, the decision was taken to upgrade to controllable pitch propellers as they are more efficient across the full range of rotational speeds and load conditions. King Shark will have a top speed of 17 knots, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a range of more than 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181168/image/large-212c5843a81b51e00155d38836253fae.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181168">A separate technical room on the lower deck houses the water-cooled SAVe Cube electrical system. All the frequency converters, drives and switchboards are integrated into a standalone unit to save space and simplify installation, while also being easier to cool and requiring fewer connections. Engine speeds are adjusted automatically to the power demanded in the most fuel-efficient way. Another ‘ship-style’ technical room on the under-lower deck groups together equipment such as the boilers, Hamann water treatment and Ultrafog fire-fighting systems.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181184/image/large-961eef669907b44f8b9dff15aea9b057.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181184"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181183/image/large-4bd0e15956ec27d822904dc1dd8f867f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181183">“The advantage of diesel-electric from an operational standpoint is its versatility and redundancy,” says McIlroy, who has brought his operational experience aboard both merchant ships and superyachts to the project. “Depending on the power demand, we can use multiple combinations of diesel engines and if one goes down it doesn’t mean the end of a cruise. &nbsp;The 100 percent torque, zero-speed capability of the azimuthing electric pods also provides full dynamic positioning.” &nbsp;Because of the complexity of the DE system, McIlroy advised keeping it separate from the other yacht monitoring systems to make problem-spotting easier for the crew. All the main systems have back-ups, including the air-conditioning plant and the pumps for the water-cooled SAVe Cube, thrusters and generators. Despite all the extra hardware, the logical layout of the engine room and technical spaces means equipment is easily accessible for maintenance purposes.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181182/image/large-d3394ca6bc83f293c47c2296ee1c2581.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181182"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181181/image/large-be11c150a9231e92e21b2e2a8b21d132.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181181"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi&nbsp;</a>introduced several upgrades to the build specs at its own expense. These included adding an oil storage tank in the stern for filling and discharging the pods, and watertight doors between the pod rooms to provide more storage space and avoid both rooms being flooded in the event of an accident. Soft patches in the pod room bulkheads means the Marelli e-motors can be removed through the tender garage and the SAVe Cube room if necessary.&nbsp;Hidden design surprises&nbsp;The muscular exterior lines are similar to Param Jamuna IV&nbsp;and Polaris in the semi-displacement Prince Shark series by Team for Design, but spread out over 70 metres and five decks (plus an under-lower deck) the effect is altogether more imposing. A defining characteristic of the design is found in the forward sloping windows on the owner’s and bridge decks (the yacht will have a semi-integrated Böning/Rolls-Royce bridge). Nowadays, even very large windows are flexibly fixed with adhesives, but with panes weighing around 500kg and angled at 45 degrees it was felt prudent to provide mechanical attachments as well. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181169/image/large-2402bdc44b89753036ed728044d98075.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181169"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181170/image/large-c2ae93516dfea62b25d24e8443f61532.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181170">In terms of layout, King Shark throws up a few surprises. The lower deck has the standard four guest suites and crew accommodation, but because of the SAVe Cube room and pod rooms, there is only space in the stern for a small beach club with sauna and day head. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181166/image/large-597a39f3807f7ef39475a37d0f30c8b5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181166">Instead, the massage room, hammam and an enormous gym with full-height sliding glass doors have been relocated to the main deck forward, along with the first officer’s and chief engineer’s cabins. A sickbay next to the gym can double as a supernumerary’s cabin. Aft of the main lobby, which will feature a bespoke crystal chandelier in the stairwell between the upper and lower decks, is the main salon with an enclosed cinema room.The cinema room bulkhead features an onyx wall with a water cascade and overlooking the open aft deck is an oval sofa that can be transformed into a dining table for 12 guests. On the owner’s deck, the master stateroom has direct access to a private forward terrace with another water cascade. There is a VIP suite amidships and the sky lounge features a temperature-controlled wine rack separated from the salon by a wall of onyx pillars. Back-lit onyx features throughout the classic-contemporary interior design, along with Calacatta Lincoln and Marquinia nero marbles, high-gloss ebony and light Tay wood with a satin finish. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181193/image/large-c4e2dbfdd0f00e671d9f1d7f61081078.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181193"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181192/image/large-27ea1921aec0e23a5632b021139a8016.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181192"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181190/image/large-674c1aec71c8c6674d5422d0ac7eecdb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181190">King Shark is a technological feat&nbsp;One of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1080" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rossinavi (Company)">Rossinavi</a>’s strengths as a custom yard is its engineering expertise, which stems from its past as a subcontractor to other Italian shipyards before becoming a fully-fledged builder in its own right. Federico Rossi likens the aluminium and carbon-fibre passarelle to something Apple might design if it built boats. A fully retractable structure was unfeasible because of the pod rooms and crane crossbeams in the garage. The ingenious bespoke solution is a partially retracting gangway with integrated steps that fold out to mirror the portside transom staircase. The end section folds into the aft platform and, when extended, a teak-lined cover is raised on a scissor lift to fill the recess and sit flush with the decking. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181191/image/large-3443ffb7bc4b772145ed6537020cd614.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181191"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/181188/image/large-6c4f7f3ab99fb0c97776f9db0ce7a838.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/181188">“We’re a full custom shipyard and the big technical projects like King Shark allow us to draw on our construction experience and engineering expertise,” says Federico Rossi. “In a market where series builders are proposing 50-metre yachts, that means competitive advantage for us and added value for the client.”&nbsp;This article was first featured in The SuperYacht Times newspaper in the September/October issue. <a href="http://www.superyachtcompany.com/newspaper/the-superyacht-times-subscription" target="_blank">Subscribe</a> now to receive your copy straight to your door and never miss another issue.&nbsp;

One of the standout spaces on board is <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/polaris-i">Polaris I’s</a> sun deck where she has her own 3.5-metre swimming pool complete with waterfall and surrounding dining area. A third hull in the series was completed last year and named <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/n2h">N2H</a>, which stands out from her two older sisters with a deep blue hull. “We actually started in the maritime industry almost four decades ago, in 1980,” starts Federico Rossi, the charming, unconventional and entirely Italian COO of the Rossinavi shipyard as we sit in their modern meeting rooms in Viareggio. This may come as a surprise to those who were only made aware of the brand in 2007 when they emerged as builders of large, custom superyachts with the signing of two significant projects measuring an impressive 53 and 70-metres respectively.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/22685/image/large-4b9eaa55b3acca16c60565d22a695a61.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22685">But even before diving into the deep end of custom superyacht construction under their own brand, the Rossi family had long been connected with the world of building big boats. Founded by brothers Claudio and Paride Rossi in the late 70s and beginning with the reparation of small fishing boats in the Viareggio region, their expertise in naval architecture and engineering soon developed and expanded their horizons. By 1992, the company employed 15 people and was building hulls and superstructures in steel and aluminium for major shipyards that have since become some of their main competitors. &nbsp; &nbsp;Comfortably growing over the next 15 years, it wasn’t until the Global Financial Crisis of 2007/8 hit that the yard - then named Cantiere Navale Fratelli Rossi - were forced to reassess their business model. Oddly enough, whilst some of their main clients were losing business building big boats, this is exactly where the Rossi family turned to save their own business. Rossi explains,&nbsp;“When the market asked for yachts, the historic shipyards were very well equipped to meet that demand. When the GFC hit, these yards were suddenly operating at half their normal production - some even going bankrupt. We were obliged to change our organisation as these yards were our clients: we were also losing business as the GFC took its toll. We already had the expertise in building boats, so this is the direction we took to cover our own operating costs and survive.”<img src="/uploads/store/photo/22657/image/large-293ef5d1f0d8f6b4aaa69f93855e8777.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22657">Of course, it wasn’t as easy as simply making the switch from subcontractor to fully fledged yacht builder. The first hurdle? Attracting a client to build a yacht with Rossinavi without any product to demonstrate their skills.&nbsp;“Believe me,” Rossi assures me,&nbsp;“This was an extremely difficult activity. You are approaching a client with just your promise, your history, and a brochure. We are forever grateful to the owners of our very first projects, the 53.2-metre&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2083" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rarity53.2m (174'6&quot;)">South</a>&nbsp;(now&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2083" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rarity53.2m (174'6&quot;)">Rarity</a>) which we delivered in the summer of 2008, and the 70-metre&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">Numptia</a>&nbsp;(now&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">High Power III</a>), delivered in 2011. Without their faith, we may not have made it.”Considering that projects of 53 and 70 metres are rather significant investments (even if the yard were charging an exceptionally competitive price that basically covered their own costs with no profit!), how did they manage to get those clients to sign on the dotted line? “Well, it came down to the deep knowledge and expertise of our company, our family, and especially my father and my uncle,” says Rossi. &nbsp;With the American owner of&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">Numptia</a>, this knowledge and expertise was shared over a period of three intense months. His lawyers in the States were quick to warn against what they saw as a notable risk, and Rossi laughs as he remembers the struggle:&nbsp;“His lawyers advised him not to build with this yard because the downpayment for the yacht was basically the value of the shipyard at the time! But after three months of visiting the boats we had created for other shipyards, sitting in technical meetings with us, he soon understood that we have knowledge of our own - not knowledge that other shipyards had given us. We do not have a technical department: we are our technical department. And he understood we were capable of creating his custom dream.”<img src="/uploads/store/photo/32486/image/large-f8ec6fce0ab70f99925295f9d59873ed.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/32486">And so <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">Numptia</a> was born - understandably an important milestone for the Rossinavi brand. &nbsp;Actually, the owner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">Numptia</a> was not just an integral part of allowing Rossinavi to show the world what they were capable of, but he is also the very reason behind the name ‘Rossinavi’. “He told us he wants a brand on the side of his boat… Cantiere Navale Fratelli Rossi does not exactly roll off the tongue. And so we created Rossinavi! I still go to America and meet with him sometimes - he is a visionary man.” &nbsp;Since the delivery of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2083" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rarity53.2m (174'6&quot;)">South</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="High Power III70.0m (229'8&quot;)">Numptia</a>, the Rossinavi brand has gone from strength to strength, and clearly the risk their inaugural clients took paid off. The next few years saw multiple custom superyacht deliveries, just a handful including the 46.35m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3727" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="2 Ladies46.35m (152'1&quot;)">2 Ladies</a> in 2012, 48.31m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4299" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Param Jamuna IV48.31m (158'6&quot;)">Param Jamuna IV</a> in 2013, 48.29m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4756" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Polaris I48.29m (158'5&quot;)">Polaris I</a> in 2014, 38.55m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5503" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Taransay38.55m (126'6&quot;)">Taransay</a> in 2015, 49.9m<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5918" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Endeavour II 49.9m (163'9&quot;)">&nbsp;Endeavour II</a> and the 49m&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5953" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Aurora49.0m (160'9&quot;)">Aurora</a> in 2017 and, just three days before our interview in early June, their most recent delivery: the 63m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5696" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Utopia IV63.0m (206'8&quot;)">Utopia IV.</a>The future looks to be just as busy for Rossinavi, with no less than three yachts currently under construction, each scheduled for completion in 2020. And now with a string of successful deliveries under their belt, Rossi tells me that the time has come for the brand to focus their efforts on a more concentrated endeavour: to crack the American market. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/26756/image/large-65e4c36ce875f83e0104b4dd2f65b937.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/26756">This is not as simple as merely attracting more American clients to the Italian brand, but is focused on offering something different to American clients to make that happen. That something will be to incorporate American components into their projects. Why? For easy maintenance State-side. “We want to follow the ideas of our American client,” Rossi says. “They have a lot of great components, for our boats for US clients (and standards) we are importing all technical elements directly. We don’t want them to have to go through a lengthy, expensive process when it comes to maintenance of their dream. That’s why we also set up a small office in Florida for after sales, and we include two years of warranty to all of our customers.” &nbsp;And now that the financial side of the business is healthy, will Rossinavi continue to offer only custom products? The answer from the ever-passionate Rossi was a resounding ‘yes’... Here, he explains why. &nbsp;From the very beginning, Rossinavi offered only custom projects. Why? &nbsp;Well, from a financial side, at the beginning it was necessary for us to keep our money in the bank and only begin with construction once we had sold the product. But more than that, I do not like trying to convince someone that they should buy a specific boat: our specific boat that we have created with no specific individual in mind. Our vision has always been to build dreams, to understand what a client wants to create. What will they be using the boat for? Where? What is the owner’s lifestyle like, what is his mood like? Does he want speed, or does he want a full displacement boat? That is how you build the best boat possible. It’s all about a perfect synthesis between brand and client. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/28810/image/large-4409d3c54214e53f2c1d8128aff82857.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/28810">The custom yacht market is a niche, competitive market. How do you differentiate yourself from your competitors?&nbsp;&nbsp;For us, it is clear. We are one of the only fully custom shipyards that do not combine custom superyacht building with other areas. A lot of yards have a strategy in place whereby they have custom yachts as their main business, but serial production in the background or a sector of their business focused on commercial vessels, with the management of a marina, or a refit facility. Our business is to produce only fully custom yachts. I think that is the best approach to luxury boats. &nbsp;What do people come to Rossinavi for? &nbsp;Our vision and our expertise in engineering. The difficult thing for us sometimes is that people do not always fully understand what a full custom boat is. For us, we develop concepts as proposals, which we use to start a discussion and to show what is possible with custom projects. With Pininfarina for example, we presented a really unique project, but we have four other concepts with Pininfarina too that remain entirely secretive. We also have another two new concepts with Team4Design, and we use these as a basis to start discussions. &nbsp;Define custom in your own words.&nbsp;Fully custom is when all the aspects of the boat are in accordance with itself. That means that every single component has been built specifically for that vessel. People may think that some components are the same from boat to boat… but they are not. We create every single piece for each individual project. With <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5503" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Taransay38.55m (126'6&quot;)">Taransay</a>, we bought a lot of bronze to create the machines so that everything looks the same. Every tiny aspect is completely unique.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/26747/image/large-662b2c3b7dfb2002ba448c1ab04a5719.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/26747"> What about yachts built on an existing platform but with totally unique interior and exterior design? &nbsp;If I build on a platform, then I am obliged to cater the layout to the platform. Then the yacht is not fully custom. When a client then wants a bigger beach club or anything else, you can either say yes or no. Generally, people say yes and sell the vessel. But then you must calibrate the yacht differently. The vessel is modified from the beginning. Our approach is different. We do not want to use the platform, because we study the layouts, we tank test for three or four months, especially for comfort. We are engineers at our core. We study every aspect, weight, distribution, the hull form. That, to me, is fully custom. &nbsp;Which of your projects has presented the biggest challenges? &nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5503" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Taransay38.55m (126'6&quot;)">Taransay.</a> That boat is just so different, and it was certainly a challenge, but a fantastic opportunity for us to show that we can realise any custom dream. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5503" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Taransay38.55m (126'6&quot;)">Taransay</a> is a very classically styled boat, and we did a lot of very deep research in order to fully comprehend the yachts of this era. In the past, we also rebuilt a traditional sailing yacht, which gave us a much broader understanding of these classic yachts. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/22649/image/large-71adf90ed419372da7d6eebcdecfde47.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22649">You are one of the industry’s youngest leaders at just 39. Being a young industry leader has its advantages, but has this ever presented a challenge when dealing with clients? &nbsp;I am one of the youngest leaders, yes. I am happy now because when I was 30, people thought I was 45… now I am 39, they still think 45, so I am not ageing badly, at least! But we are a family business. The founders are in their 60s, and if it does so happen that there is a client who wants to speak to an older man, they can speak to my father. He is the CEO, responsible for the management of the company. Some clients, like the young owner of<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5953" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Aurora49.0m (160'9&quot;)">&nbsp;Aurora</a>, would prefer to work with a younger guy. It varies, but together, we make the perfect team. &nbsp;How does the lack of definition of custom affect Rossinavi? &nbsp;The impact is the perception of the price. For a totally full custom product, the price is higher of course. Insight: Rossinavi, the evolution of Italian subcontractors turned custom superyacht creators

One of the standout spaces on board is <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4756" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Polaris I48.29m (158'5&quot;)">Polaris I’s</a> sun deck where she has her own 3.5-metre swimming pool complete with waterfall and surrounding dining area. A third hull in the series was completed last year and named <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5504" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="N2H48.5m (159'1&quot;)">N2H</a>, which stands out from her two older sisters with a deep blue hull. N2H in Malta

Launched just two months ago, the all-new 49-metre motor yacht N2H by Rossinavi has been delivered to her owner and was recently spotted in Malta’s Grand Harbour Marina. The yacht forms part of the Italian builder’s Prince Shark 49 range designed by Enrico Gobbi of Team 4 Design with naval architecture by Arrabito Naval Architects. Sister ship to Polaris I, N2H’s blue hull is one of her defining characteristics.

Rossinavi launched its third superyacht of the year this week. The new 48.5-metre motor yacht follows the lines and profile of the Prince Shark 49 line and was named N2H during her christening ceremony during the launch.

The shipyard worked together with Venetian designer Enrico Gobbi of Team 4 Design on the project as well as Arrabito Naval Architects. The yacht’s blue hull will clearly set her apart from her sister ship, Polaris I.

Rossinavi’s third 49m Prince Shark motor yacht launched

The 2015 edition of the prestigious World Superyacht Awards returned to Amsterdam, the Netherlands on 9th May for a glamorous evening spent rewarding the best superyachts of the past year in a total of 18 categories. Promotech Italia has recently set up a special integrated lighting system on board the 49 metre superyacht Polaris by Rossi Navi. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151009/image/large-bafae4fdf45d8340c89bf688e3dcfc62.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150274">The lighting details on board are all integrated within the furniture and different materials, and is seen in almost every room. A particularly notable lighting detail is found in the main saloon, which hosts a large size backlit onyx/travertine book-match wall.As part of their services, Promotech offers a unique plug and play solution protecting the breakage of the stone parts of features during maintenance, and are also able to offer installation. One of their key products is the slim led panel S.L.P., a planar light source where the light is diffused over the surface eliminating point shadows and undesired cone light effects typical of halogen or LED spots. The spread of light emission over a larger surface eradicates glare and the S.L.P can be monochromatic, dynamic white or RGB. The panel can also be shaped and drilled for technical reasons or installation purposes, has a thickness of less than 20mm and can be personalised to 3000 x 1500mm. Double emitting sides for semi-translucent installations are also commonly used.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151010/image/large-1ba6e2265ed13eef22c5ad95a7d12d87.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150262">Polaris boasts integrated lighting details for general and direct illumination. Promotech has installed the Luxyflat strip led in various versions to fit the particular ambiences. The Luxyflat series are flexible and easy to work with and gives a seamless light with high CRI. The series also come in various colour temperatures such as cool, natural, warm and waterproof versions. Promotech’s custom lighting on board 49m Polaris

TEAM Italia attended the Monaco Yacht Show, where the company exhibited innovative technologies developed by its in-house R&amp;D department. Featuring a new design and even more functions, the new I-Bridge Futura Nextgen was well received by captains and owners. Several superyachts that feature TEAM Italia’s innovations and was also present at the show.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150967/image/large-5649582501072c8a2deb102bcd519d95.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150967">The first is the 46 metre Baglietto displacement superyacht that was launched earlier this year. The shipyard chose the TEAM Italia system for the vessel, and the project provided for installation of a completely customised, built-in I-Bridge system produced following the specific requests of the shipyard, captain and Owner. The console features 5 displays, 3 touchscreen workstations and 2 multifunctional joysticks.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150968/image/large-75a9381bbedb8d4d2e9a05b77c71665e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150968">Rossinavi’s second Prince Shark superyacht, Polaris, arrived around a year after her sistership. The I-Bridge system has been installed on the 49 metre all aluminium semi-displacement hull yacht, and a special concept and ergonomic solution was successfully applied.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150969/image/large-12d933547d56373d065b082eafe4ae3d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150969">Other yachts on display at the show featuring the work of TEAM Italia includes ISA Yachts 42.67 metre Silver Wind, and 66 metre Okto. Both yachts feature a built-in customised I-Bridge system produced by matching the requirements put forward by the shipyard with those of captains and owners.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150970/image/large-6b99271c010e7514ae92e1ea5e20a3b0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150970">Benetti has been working with TEAM Italia for several years, and 2014 saw the two companies work on a number of projects together. Benetti Illusion I and Benetti FB 258 were also on display in Monaco in addition to Mister Z, which features the high technology I-Bridge Multi-Touch system, as well as a multi conning system display for navigation and a steering conning system for all the activities related to navigation. An AWS (Anchor Watching System) is also installed to guarantee a complete monitoring of the boat when it is at anchor. TEAM Italia's innovative technologies

The second unit of the Prince Shark 49 metre superyacht line was launched earlier this year in March, just one year after her sistership Param Jamuna IV was launched in March 2013. Rossinavi will display superyacht Polaris at the Monaco Yacht Show this September. The Prince Shark line has been designed exclusively for the Italian shipyard in Viareggio by Enrico Gobbi of Team For Design, who developed the complete design of both exteriors and interiors. The line comprises of several key design and performance requirements; speed and power as well as volume and luxuriousness, and all below the 500 GRT threshold. One important fact is that the vessel runs perfectly on her design lines, drawing a perfect wake at any speed. To give an idea of how much the hull is valid, the maximum list at full speed (24 knots, during RINA official trials) was a mere 2.5°. As far as the noise/vibrations levels are concerned, they are very close to the ones of a displacement vessel. Polaris, in spite of her planing forms and thanks to the technical solutions used on board, has obtained the RINA Comfort Class.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150261/image/large-5c1debfb51a49bc50820a9d04157ec6b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150261">From the meticulous study of lines and shapes, proportions and ergonomics, Enrico Gobbi along with his team created a superyacht that with three decks plus a fly deck maintains a sleek volume that is uncommon to yachts of the same category. Exclusive panoramic views are guaranteed from all areas of the yacht thanks to the broad use of glass and notched sections along the main deck, particularly the nearly full-height windows in the saloon and full beam master suite.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150262/image/large-3a98b85bc5885237116bdc2d5a3310dd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150262">The yacht’s special appeal is conferred by the clever design of some sporty and dynamic details, recalling a military style, such as front windshields inclined 45° degrees backwards. This characteristic element is recalled also by further exterior details that follow the same inclination as the windshields, such as the side pillars in steel and glass and all the hull and superstructure window shapes. A light aluminum semi-planing hull and superstructure and twin MTU 12V4000 M93L engines with 2,580 kW power make this 49 metre yacht a high-performance vessel.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150265/image/large-13ba3741926d5d506f1edd376361d3fe.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150265">One of the main characteristics of the yacht is it’s very large sun lounge area integrated between the two forward muscles of the superstructure. This space guarantees maximum privacy due to its position and allows a magnificent panoramic view for all guests on board. The choice of natural elements creates a play of light and dark enhanced by marble that infuse the vessel with its own well defined personality. The décor of all areas plays a fundamental role in conveying to the yacht its eclectic and exclusive style: cottons, silks and velvets have been selected by Enrico Gobbi among the exclusive Armani Casa textile collection. Artworks from Venice, made in Murano glass, have been placed in important focal-areas of the yacht, and emphasised by a clever lighting scheme. A selection of artistic paintings including two rare examples dating back to the 18th century enhance the lobbies.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150273/image/large-efb435e8cd5d08c20ca002391d844150.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150273">The yacht's main lobby gives an impressive welcome. Accommodation consists of four beautiful guest staterooms as well as the full beam master suite. Particularly luxurious, this room boasts almost full height windows encompassing the area, offering spectacular panoramic views as well as an abundance of natural light.
