(Company)">Codecasa Shipyards</a> is our strength," recounted Fulvio Codecasa, CEO of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. (Company)">Codecasa</a>, one of the oldest family-operated shipyards in Italy. Established in 1825 by Giovanni Battista Codecasa in Viareggio, the shipyard specialises in crafting steel and aluminium yachts ranging from 24 to 70-metres. Notable examples of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. "Understanding and respecting every role within the team is crucial," Fulvio emphasised, reinforcing the bond that ties the workforce together. “I know and understand the work of my employees well,” he continued, highlighting the strong sense of community within the shipyard. "As I always say, we consider ourselves an extended family.”Reflecting on his lifelong involvement in the industry and with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. (Company)">Codecasa</a>, Fulvio shared his deep personal connection to each yacht. "All <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. (Company)">Codecasa</a> yachts are like children to me," he confessed. However, he noted that if he had to choose one yacht that he feels most attached to and that best represents <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. "One of the main factors contributing to the shipyard’s longevity and success is our commitment to custom production," Fulvio shared. "Our yachts are built according to the client’s wishes, just like a bespoke tailored suit. This approach allows us to closely monitor every step of the construction process, ensuring that the yachts we deliver are not only beautiful but also unique, reliable, safe, and of the highest quality."Additionally, Fulvio highlighted that <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. (Company)">Codecasa</a> regularly meets clients' needs for personal touches in furnishings and the desire for large, comfortable spaces that foster conviviality with family and guests, while also ensuring privacy onboard.Throughout his career, Fulvio has observed a shift in yacht ownership trends. (Company)">Codecasa</a> facilities. Inquiring into the significance of these names and the overall construction capacity, Fulvio pointed out that the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. (Company)">Codecasa</a> Tre and Ugo <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. (Company)">Codecasa</a> Shipyards, strategically located at the Viareggio dock, each cover an area of 7,000 square metres, 6,000 of which are permanently under cover. These facilities specialise in constructing yachts ranging from 40 to 90-metres in length, crafted from steel and aluminium. This modern facility is designed to accommodate hulls and superstructures up to 80-metres long from the initial stages of construction.Looking ahead, Fulvio revealed that <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. (Company)">Codecasa</a> is actively expanding its fleet with the construction of three yachts: a 33.5-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. (Company)">Codecasa</a> Classic Yacht scheduled for delivery in 2025; the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/162" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Codecasa S.p.A. Codecasa CEO Fulvio Codecasa: “Family identity is our strength”

Her career, spanning over two decades, commenced with her enrolment at the Politecnico di Milano, where she pursued a master’s degree in yacht design.Her professional career encompasses pivotal roles. Beginning with her initial position at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/103" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lazzarini & Pickering (Company)">Lazzarini Pickering studio</a> in Rome in 2005, she worked for the Latsis group. In 2006, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5407" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="m2atelier (Company)">Radovic</a> founded the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1430" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Stand By / Marijana Radovic (Company)">Stand By</a> studio in Belgrade and Athens. This collaboration culminated in the establishment of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5407" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="m2atelier (Company)">M2atelier studio</a> in 2011, characterised by a design ethos deeply rooted in sustainable minimalism. I realised that effective design surpasses mere aesthetics and instead underscores the intricate interplay between layout and spatial organisation. Yacht interiors, in particular, present a distinctive challenge, necessitating a keen mastery of space utilisation.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/283905/image/large-e67a3579c5e014dc26b1541af6d4a0dd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/283905">Could you share one of your most significant experiences in your career and what made it particularly memorable and significant for you?The most significant experiences in my career have arisen from the more challenging projects, where the effort to push boundaries leads to new perspectives on space. For instance, experimenting with a smaller yacht can yield insights that are applicable to larger projects, unveiling diverse possibilities for spatial arrangement and functionality. Personally, interior yacht design surpassed the confines of material elements; it is about creating a comfortable and pleasant cocoon-like space. While larger yachts may have abundant space, the true art lies in curating an environment that evokes a sense of luxury. It is akin to managing the interior of a boutique in Milan, while simultaneously developing and refining the interiors of a yacht over a three-year span. Such experiences provide extensive practice and allow us to explore new dimensions within the domain of interior yacht design.With the ever-present concern for sustainability in the superyacht sector, how have you developed your approach to tackle this issue?<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/283835/image/large-1f88ae87f0c6c2ff348bb9677e72a842.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/283835">Our sustainability strategy revolves around a collaborative partnership with yacht owners. Amongst these is a yacht spanning around 80-metres. For instance, one yacht features a kitchen in the heart of the vessel, while others offer enhanced beach club experiences. It’s essential to strike a balance, avoiding overly vast areas that might make occupants feel lost. Constructed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the three-deck superyacht has a transatlantic range of 5,000 nautical miles and can reach a top speed of 17 knots.

Ahead of its completion next year, Codecasa welcomed one of its largest superyachts to date at their facility in Viareggio last week. The 65-metre project F74 was signed in 2017 and has been under construction at the Darsena dei Navicelli production site in Pisa since then. 65m Codecasa flagship on track for 2019 delivery

Codecasa is currently hard at work on their fourth 65-metre motor yacht in Pisa with the project’s steel hull structure now compete, ready receive its aluminium superstructure. Construction on Hull F74 started in April this year after the project was signed by her owner.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/17484/image/large-9524b50e9b1792cf3531faa8e5d64267.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/17484">While hot works continue on the hull and superstructure, the shipyard’s technical team is working on the selection of materials together with the design studio appointed by the owner.
