Having set off on a global voyage shortly after delivery, Samaya has been spending much of her time cruising the Pacific and exploring the remote regions surrounding the west coast of South and Central America. Created as the ultimate luxury dive vessel with a strong emphasis on cruising comfort, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6410" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Samaya69.0m (226'5&quot;)Feadship2017">Samaya</a> is the design work of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/30" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="De Voogt Naval Architects (Company)">Feadship Studio De Voogt</a> who drew her timeless lines and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/61" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RWD (Company)">RWD</a> who are behind the interior design of the vessel. Not only intended to be used as a luxury yacht, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6410" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Samaya69.0m (226'5&quot;)Feadship2017">Samaya’s</a> European owner makes the vessel accessible to scientists and media to be used as a platform to create material which will not only educate future generations about marine life but also protect the endangered creatures that live in our oceans.

Following the recent launch of Feadship’s 47-metre Project 697 at their facility in Aalsmeer, the Dutch shipyard has revealed new details about their latest new-build motor yacht which has been shrouded in secrecy until now.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/16121/image/large-4a306d41cf495460db66723708df383e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/16121">Project 697 was Feadship’s sixth launch of 2017. She was launched for an experienced owner keen to revisit the classic era of Feadship motoryachts, but with the latest technological advances. Project 697 is a tri-deck displacement yacht sporting a steel hull finished in Midnight Blue and a Matterhorn White aluminium superstructure.Project 697 has a characteristic classic Feadship design, with her exterior design penned by Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects. Although her interior designer has not yet been revealed, her interior is also classically styled, aside from her more-contemporary large windows and bright spaces inside.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/16122/image/large-128ab89575fd2f6f1ba2d75977b284f9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/16122"> In a recent statement, the shipyard explained that her styling was inspired by the 1992 launch of Aurora B, which also recently completed a refit at the Dutch yard.Stand-out features on board Project 697 include a walkaround deckhouse and her subtly curved gunwhales which create her elegant profile.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/16124/image/large-6c5493ff3a911c58ac7f10760f0e9eed.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/16124"> Alongside her classic design, however Project 697 also features some contemporary components, including grilles on the mast, the sides of the superstructure and the main deck forward, which are part of the underlying aluminium structure.Powered by twin MTU 12V 2000 M72 diesel engines, Project 697 can reach a top speed of 14.5 knots and has an impressive range of 4,000 nautical miles.&nbsp;On board, Project 697 has accommodation for two in the owner’s stateroom, with four guest staterooms accommodating up to eight guests. A crew of nine is also accommodated for on board.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/16123/image/large-65295e0c9a3202c10c5fa0aa486a815a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/16123">Project 697 joins other superyacht projects currently under development at the Dutch yard, including the 69-metre Samaya, which was launched last month and is due for delivery before the end of the year.Project 697 will now undergo final outfitting and harbour trials before being moved through the Dutch countryside to open waters for her sea trials.
